Sticky door issues

Have been trying to fix my door as it failed its mot due to the passenger door not opening from the outside. I'm pretty sure the bowden cable has stretched over time and needs replacing, which I'm looking to tackle tomorrow.

Is there a way of removing the top part of the cable (where the little white dot is) without taking everything out or do I need to remove the actuator etc?

It’s easier to do it with the actuator out; and as it’s not the drivers side you don’t have to mess about with the key spigot thing. It’s 3 bolts and when doing it blind you are more likely to snap the plastic retaining clips on the actuator

You’ll have to take the outer door handle off to do that end of the cable- make sure you check the teeth on the handle as they wear- and then don’t engage the mechanism to lift the cable

Cheers mate, does that white piece just pop out?
 
Yeah it does but needs the tension off it- it’s held in a cup arrangement a bit like a bike brake cable?
 
Top tip is make sure you take pics of how it all sits before disassembly- some of the hold points if not reassembled in the same way will mean no tension and won’t work!
