The milage has increased and is now 116,500ish
Please note if you are looking at the MOT for milage etc 2003 was the summer that I broke both arms so did not drive it much at all it sat in my garage.
In this time I have repaired, refurbished, and carried out the important preventative maintenance jobs as to prevent an expensive repair as prevention is better than the cure, time and cost.
Major works include by myself unless stated otherwise
Vanos exchange unit fitted by Mr Vanos and the chain guide etc. invoice number 1168
Rod bearings replaced with King Race bearings
Oil pump inspected by JC Racing and the pump was good but the relief valve was not so as BMW had issues with the pump and supply we went with an external relief valve that is pressure adjustable.
The gaskets and any worn items on the front of the engine behind the front chain cover where replaced as required, new bolts gaskets etc as well
The shocks and springs where replaced with Bilstein B12’s
The rubber bushes where replaced with poly bushes
While the suspension was off the car the prop shaft had new bearings and rubber drive couplings replaced
All the control arms where replaced or shot blasted and re powder coated
The rear swinging arms and all the brake components except the callipers where replaced or refurbished
The rear sub frame was removed during this work and refurbished re powder coated
BMW 135i front 6 pot brakes fitted
Cross member and gearbox cross members removed and shot blaster and re powder coated as required
Diff serviced due to excessive play in the out put flanges by JC Racing
New rear wheel bearings
Light weight flywheel and clutch
Replaced rear crank shaft oil seal
Refurbished quicker steering rack (purple tag) from Western Power Steering fitted as old one started leaking
Valve clearances checked and corrected every year complete with a spread sheet of what’s in there and what if any have been changed. Will supply a shim tool if required
Vibrotech engine mounts
Less major works
Rear brake lines replaced
Removed the clutch delay valve
Wheel alignment to CSL settings
Throttle bodies cleaned internally
Idle valve cleaned internally
Under trays and heat shields repaired as required during major works
Fitted a time clock, oil pressure and water temp where the centre vent was to monitor the oil and water.
New handbrake cables during major works
Half split Stainless steel back box flanges fitted
Made and fitted a carbon Kevlar front under tray (have the original)
New battery
Made some carbon fibre mud flaps
Carbon wrapped the door handles and the silver bits on the steering wheel
Flexi Vanos oil line as the rigid ones can snap
Water temp guage
Oil pressure gauge (mechanical as the electronic sender units snap off and then the engine leaks oil)
Fluids changed regularly
When I first had the car I changed every fluid as a precaution
The engine oil has been changed regular Around 6,000 mile max and a filter half way between
Gearbox oil and diff oil at least twice during my ownership BMW say it for life.
Summery
The car has had hundreds of hours of my time spent on it
A lot of money sorting out the known or potentially known issues that the Z4M has or may have, as above prevention is the better option in my opinion.
There is loads I have missed but may update as I remember
There is an A4 box file full of receipts for most things but as online sellers just e mail one some may have been missed
There is an A5 notebook of most of the work I have done as a record of this you just need to trust me and look on the forum for pictures of the work
Photos to follow when it stops raining
Located in Worsley North Manchester
