Hey All
Once a very happy owner of a 320 touring then a semi-reluctant owner of a 2007 Z4 2.0. Now a won't let go owner of a 2007 Z4 2.0.
Owned the Z4 for 4 years last November, bought at 75,000 now at 113,000. Owes me absolutely nothing but I really want to keep it. Huge fun to drive, and I love the thing. Have changed the oil every 4,000. I guess I really should treat the sump to a new plug and crush washer, but there's no rush.

can do: brakes, oil change.
Want to: complete thermostat and water pump, can't do: because I can't get the water pump out. Have been able to unbolt (drivers side) engine mount and raise (via low trolly jack under sump) but no extra shift to move water pump, I'm guessing I've got one or two more bolts to shift. I've seen a guy on ytub shift his an almost complete unit with Lilly wheel attached but couldn't see quite how he managed it. Any help appreciated.

Update, chocs and kettle bell now removed, second attempt to replace water pump and thermostat successful. 6 test miles and so far no leaks. Used fan on way from ebayer in Scotland, didn't want to spend £600 on a new one just yet as at least two new tyres are a must. Side note, have had Pirelli P-Zeros for about 15,000 miles, not as economical as the previous run flats (apologies can't remember the brand or name) but far superior road holding in every way but £200 each. Need to budget a little so I'm going for some Conti premium contact 6. Back to engine: hoping this all cures the overheating issue. If not then I'll be attending to the rocket cover leak sooner than I thought. Realistically, not sure how much longer I should run the engine (113k) without doing the timing chain, never done one before but I'll probably do the clutch at the same time, no issue yet but if I'm going to take out the engine I might as well do as much as I can at once. Like I say, this car owes me nothing and most searches say engine won't go past 130k, but I would love to keep it as it's so much fun.
