so it looks like my glass is no longer loving what it was mounted to.. has anyone had this before and what the best fix?

i expect there is a ribbon keeping it from falling off and now i have added some lovely tape but ill want a more permanent fix

can i safely remove the glass from the housing and then apply new silicone to the back of it or is it a replacement job?

Mine were delaminating as well, so I ordered These Blue Ones

They are a perfect fit, heated, and nice and clear with no distortion. The blue colour took a bit of getting used to, but it's different, and I like it. You can obviously get clear ones too, but I can recommend these specific ones.

They clip into place, so they are an easy fit as well.

About 3 days in to having mine, the driver's mirror glass decided to more or less fall out. I bought a plain replacement from Halfords and I'm more than happy with it. The old one had the kinked blind-spot edge but it made the rear view worse IMO (and I've always rated them on my other cars.)

so in my case the glass itself detached from the plastic backing plate. behind the glass and on the backing plate was a soft dark membrane that i think is what conducts/spreads the heat from the ribbon?

ok so these things are around 200 new from dealers
for now i have reattached with double side tape!

I put some super glue on about 10 years ago, not thought about them since...
