MOT day

Passed again, with advisories on rear tyres reaching the legal limit.

Picked the car up and they tried to sell me 2 new tyres. I asked what the readings were that led to the advisories. “4mm across the tyres”.

Sneaky f**kers.

Those sort of stupid advisories really piss me off. I got one on my 3 Series for undertrays fitted - surely it should only be an advisory if they are missing? :headbang:

Still it's always a relief to get a Pass. :)

Undertrays fitted or missing, had advisories for both. Rear brake lines covered in mud, sorry, corroded or otherwise covered with material. Seatbelt not checked because a car seat was fitted. Third row in seven seater not checked because chairs folded down, also because chairs folded up but middle seatbelt not clipped in already.

Maybe it would be worth a conversation with the garage as to the environmental impact on changing tyres that have 40% of their life left?
There is a real problem with disposing of all the used tyres in the world (most don't get recycled despite the levy charged to the consumer).

When an MOT tester checks that your car isn't belching too much CO2 or CO and then 'advises' new tyres at 4mm, there is something wrong.
But let's not go there, cos there is a LOT wrong in this world

I know mate, I'm not helping. But it keeps me off the streets, so that's a good thing for the general population. :D

Noooooo…. I think the mildly insane should be protected from the too many inherently stupid out there….you carry on…

MOT’s.
It’s all in the context of the failure reasons.
When I check MOT history I look for major/important things like we all would.
Sometimes the MOT testers can’t teyp/slelp cotrrycle.
So we have a case of how that person is feeling that day rather than them just doing the right thing.
And we just deal with it…..
No point in :fuelfire:

They are recommended to advise items that will not last until the next MOT.

That would be ok if they checked the annual mileage since the last MOT though, which they don't seem to.

Makes no difference. The car could have done 500 miles since last MOT but might do 40,000 until the next.
By the reasoning of the 'advisories' as above; they could sell you new tyres today and still put it as an advisory.
