Hi All
We’re off on a mini road trip at the end of June to west/north wales and wondering if any of you guys could recommend any must do driving routes? Got an overnight stay near Porthmadog then up to Conwy for 4 nights. Travelling from Cambridge so I intend to obviously go through snowdonia national park then make a day over in Anglesey.

Here’s the route we took on a recent meet if any of it is of any use to you

Last 2 thirds of section 5 was the highlight of the weekend for me

We did it both ways but I personally preferred it coming back down to big lay-by :driving:

If your overnighting in Porthmadog this takes in a lot of good roads up to Conwy including the Llanberris Pass through foot of Snowdon

The north gets all of the hype and all of the tourists, but mid-Wales is still relatively untrafficked and contains some fabulous stretches.

The road from Rhayader to Devil's Bridge is a single track but has excellent sightlines and traverses the spectacular Elan Valley (stop at the Craig Goch Dam for a photo op). And Llanidloes to Machynlleth is a tremendous stretch mostly devoid of other vehicles.

If your up that way on the 6th July there is a run happening thru the Elan valley with a few other Zeds

I did a Welsh road trip last May and loved it!

Our first hotel was overlooking Lake Vyrnwy and the view was stunning.

Can't remember too much of the route as my mate was navigating but we used some lovely quiet roads. The stand out for me was the road between Bala and Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Have a great trip.

Don’t think 5 days is going to be enough…..or an excuse to go again maybe…?🤔

The road from Amwlch over Parry's mountain is worth a drive, the A5025 runs the North of the island. We spend a lot of time on Anglesey but with the Mrs and the dog rather than in the zed, beautiful place but can be done in a couple of hours unless you have some stops in mind you want to do

The Mrs and me will be visiting the Goodwood Revival again in September. In the week preceding that we intent to tour in the south of Wales (Brecon Beacons).
Does anybody have any recommendations for nice roads and interesting places along the south -eastern coast?
Thanks in advance

Roads worth a blast on are the roads
Between :-
1) Bala and Ffestiniog
2) Capel Curig and Llanberris
3) Ffestiniog to Betws-y-Coed
4) Dolgellau down to Tywyn past Cadar Idris
5) Tywyn to Barmouth around the coast road
6) South out of Bala towards Lake Vyrnwy, over the mountain top

Head to Upper Brynamman, then go North over the top of the Black Mountain towards Llandovery. At Llandovery stop in the West Side Cafe (it’s a hidden gem)
From Llandovery, head to Sennybridge, then drop South again past the Cray Reservoir, back down towards Pontydulais. It’s about. 2 hour triangular loop of good roads.

Thank you very much for your suggestions
Much appreciated
I will try to include them in our tour.
Are there any interesting car or bike museums along those routes? I have already got the Sammy Miller museum and Beaulieu on my radar.

Some interesting roads around Brecon and Builth Wells, we have regular runs between Brecon and Builth Wells via the Upper and Lower Chapel villages on the B4520. If you turn off onto the B4519 towards Garth some good view points along there.

I feel I need to go drive around that corner a few times. What a cracker it looks. 8)
