Others who have replaced Wing Mirror Glass

Hi All

It finally happened, my wing mirror glass fell out on my passenger side.

I just want a consensus of whether you guys have tended toward replacing just the glass (aftermarket), the glass and bracket that clips in (aftermarket) OR BMW glass and Bracket?

It would be nice to get a solution that will last another 10 years but prefer not to spend £80 a side from BMW.....

Thanks

Not #108, but I replaced the glass on my Saab with an eBay special, around £10. Fitted it on with some silicon glue/sealant (left over from a headlight split & upgrade) then put a thin bead of sugruu around the edge as additional hold/protection. Looks like a far more expensive mirror now and none of those dodgy edges the eBay ones come with.

I tried the cheap glass from eBay...but the quality wasn't as good so I forked out for the full BMW glass. I glued it on with gorilla glue and it was fine for about 3-4 months...then the shaking started to happen again so I reapplied the glue. Its been fixed for about 3 months now so expecting to have to do it again soon.

Just the glass - bought on line and had very strong tape. Having said that, I sold the car a few months later so I can't vouch for how long it lasted.

Replaced just the mirror on my family hack - used the adhesive tape that came with the glass. Cleaned the surfaces very carefully and thoroughly and used a hair dryer to get everything warmed up before applying - still in place years later . . .

Replaced the glass and mount off eBay about £13 iirc over a year and no problems yet. Heated too.

Changed my wife's previous E85 with eBay glass, white line, or black vs the BMW one, and didn't look to have the same quality of image comparing left & right, but I am a little on the retentive side - she didn't notice

My Ebay replacement glass (passenger glass fell off at 40mph the second day I had the car) has been on 9 months now no problems just used the supplied double sided sticky pads.
