TYRELEADER.CO.UK tread carefully

Just a heads up if anyone is considering buying tyres from Tyreleader. They do come in the cheapest but be aware of the following:-

1. They are based in Germany not the UK, and there is no telephone contact number or email address on their website.
2. They state they will post the tyres to you in or around 72 hours.

The reality of this for me has been a problem from start to finish. I ordered the tyre 12 days ago to be delivered to a UK garage for fitting. I got no update at all as to when the tyre was being delivered and had to keep phoning the garage every day. When the tyre eventually arrived on inspection it was manufactured in 2011!. This has been sold as a new tyre. Tyre leader now want me to pay £25 to return the tyre to them. We are now in email dispute re this and they have yet to agree to refund me the full amount.

I've ordered 7 sets through them, 1 was a bit of a nightmare, the other 6 no problems. Yes there is no phone number but they do respond to the support email eventually. There's a reason why they are so cheap!

As for the manufactured date, I've always found them to be within 2 years. Ones that are any older are clearly marker DOT2011 or whatever on the description on their website, usually those ones are even cheaper for obvious reasons. Are you sure you didn't select one with the dot marking specified on by mistake?

Used many many times without issue
Last time I did thought there was online tracking to keep up with the order & delivery date ?
The 5yrs old part is naughty unless as Tom points out they were highlighted as such & cost less

I've heard a few issues with tyreleader from friends. Ordering 2/4 tyres & not unusual for 1 or 2 to come from different countries & arriving days or weeks apart. That's why I've been using uk based company's mainly Asda tyres in the past. Usally find the price difference is minimum.

Also used them without issue in the past.

Price inc delivery for one tyre was £149 the DOT2011 figure came up in the receipt once ordered and paid for but not pointed out at all, and should the average punter know what that means? I did not, but am not happy with putting a 5 year old tyre a 911, so it seems Tyre leader are buying up the older tyres much cheaper

The F1s I ordered last year (August 2015) had a DOT date ot 2215 on the fronts and on the rears one was 2315 and one 2415.

So you getting 2011 tyres may just be down to bad luck. Hopefully they sort it out.

Not sure if you guys are aware. There is a reason why tyre leader sell so cheap. This is because the EU law states you cannot sell a tyre older than 3 years old. This is not in force over here. So the tyres they sell are usually 3 year+ old. Long as they stored correctly and in packaging there's no issue.

Cannot remember where I read that, I did some digging a while back.

They don't even look that cheap. I've just had a quick look at the Avon ZZ5s I had fitted a couple of weeks ago by my local branch of National Tyres (ordered via tyreshopper website) and they are no cheaper on tyreleader. Tyreshopper process was great too. Ordered online lunchtime on a Friday got a call at quarter to 4 to say the tyres had been dropped off so did I want them fitting straight away? Called round on way home from work and all 4 fitted same day for under £360. :driving:

I posted about some problems with them back in 2014 and several others also had issues with Tyreleader.co.uk. My situation turned out OK in the end but I wouldn't bother with them again. By contrast another Euro firm Oponeo were excellent and a great price on winters for one of our cars.

+1 with tyre shopper also had Avon ZZ5's for my Z and my daughters car also Michelins for my DD.
Price difference is small but these offer a good service and the lads at Chesterfield National tyres are friendly polite and efficient.

Still no joy from their"customer services" only had 2 replies from them of a standard nature wanting to charge me £25 to return 1 tyre. Odd that as the outbound postage was £5.50. Even odder the advert for my tyre has now been replaced with one showing the price as £179.99. They seem very underhand.

Be careful with Tyreleader,
They are some kind of scammer.
I bought 2 tires and they told me that they give me a tracking no.in 48 hours.
I haven't received a tracking no even in 2 weeks.
I contacted them and they said that they delivered one tire for service, not two.
They offered me a partial refund and penalties of 20 pounds for one tyre.
Avoid, they are not serious !
They answered my email in French.
