Car gone now and I'm sure someone will want it!

Phoned up enquiring about this yesterday but it sold almost straight away.

I had a 55 plate S2k, links to my username - final part of the reg was KMZ which kamikaze suited the car well.

Loved it, but much prefer the Z for day to day. If it was just a weekend car, then I'd be tempted based purely on the drive - but noise, plastic interior & the roof cover just didn't work for me - plus the rear bumper number plate surround seemed to gather rattling stones inside it - those who have had one should remember that fun!

Amazing gearbox & then noise when you are in the mood. Had forgotten the bhp to litre ratio until I reread this. Insurance was much higher than the M though. After reading about how the diff can lock through puddles on one side, I found it a little disconcerting in the wet ; probably a forum fear based on a minority, but still stuck.

Still miss it though, which says how strong the positives & fun of this car are.

DPG - that RNBP was the colour I had, it's gorgeous

Z4MC - wish I had both, like you do

I've had two S2000's ... and loved them. I sold the first for a TVR Griffith 500 and the second (a rare yellow) for a Golf GTi Ed 30.

The Golf lasted 18 months before the bug to go roof down again bit and I bought a Z4M.

I am now on my 2nd E89 35iS.

Do I regret selling the S2000's ... well, yes, the 2nd one should have stayed longer ! They are a superb car, far more useable 'fun' than a Z4 IMO but they are 'basic' in comparison and just simply 'different'. The Z4 for is far more refined but less chuckable. The Z4 at least in Z4M and 35iS guise is also hugely quicker :)

I would still have one for a laugh. Not too sure on the silly tax bracket though - that put me off looking for a third !

I am still in touch with many S2K owners though as there is a wonderful following - some of whom are on here too :)

It's definitely a more useable car in terms of fun on the road. Also, it's much easier to hang the back end out and balance it with the throttle - it tolerates greater angles of slip without trying to spin and there's no such thing as too much gas when going sideways (unlike the Z4M where a heavy right foot can leave you facing backwards in a smokey mess   ).
