    Z3 to Z4 to Z4 to Z8

Lovely cars IMO. And even if I didn't think that, I wouldn't want to rain on your parade with my meaningless opinions. Talking of meaningless opinions... I echo brillomaster in that I'd personally rather get the good condition, but used car - something I can enjoy without worrying about ruining...

Engine rebuild by specialist has turned into disaster. Your opinions welcome.

Yeah, not on a 2001 BMW! I have a warning sticker on my E30 (1989) about asbestos in the engine bay. If there was risk of it being in your car, there'd by a sticker. Germany banned asbestos in 1993 - 8 years before your car was built - so no way it was asbestos. Ask them how they disposed of...

Gravity cat back exhaust E85 30i

Had one of the these cheap exhausts on my R53. It sounded nice enough, but maybe that's because all the welds to the silencers had rusted through. It was not built well, but it's cheap, so it wasn't a surprise. It came on the car, but I was very happy when I swapped it out.

    E89 SD35IS Alarm Issues

My sister in law has an e92 - same electronic system as the e89. Her alarm sensor for the bonnet/hood is unplugged, so I assume a previous owner had problems. It looks the same as the one on my e86 and old E46, so I'd try unplugging it. After all, it's easy and free to diagnose. Good luck!

    WANTED Z4 Coupe Wanted

I dunno... I feel it would look better with a pre-facelift front bumper

    Airco specialists (X5M)

Not sure where in the south east you are, but these guys (in Slough trading estate) were very good with my wife's 3 series. There was a hose with pinholes from corrosion, and they found and replaced that where more 'generalised' garages failed. They even supplied the part from BMW (can tell by...

Transport mode - Essex, Suffolk or Herts

If BMW Scanner can do it, I'd honestly just buy the cable for £20, and know that you'll save yourself the cost of a diagnostic scan from a garage in the future if a light ever comes on... (Assuming you have a laptop of course!)

Air con / panel won’t work

I'd scan the ones you have connected for faults. There might be something reported (like an error with the heat blend flap or something) that will direct your investigations

    SOLD Storage Net

Post in thread 'E86 Door Pockets' https://z4-forum.com/threads/e86-door-pockets.109328/post-1581503 I found this mmm-five post, which - even if not the one you mean - looks very helpful, so thank you for the pointer!

    Fuel pump

The filter is in the tank. The only access hole to the tank is the one with the fuel pump. Sadly, it is not accessible via the boot.

Suspension Refresh on E85 3.0 si

Yeah, I just checked, and this bracket is not present on the E86, so I can't comment/help, sorry !

    More snapped bolts

Unfortunately, not for this. There are straight groves cut into the stud, so it bites into the flange, and doesn't snip when the nuts are done up/undone. A left handed drill bit here would be money wasted (as much as they are usually worth having for threaded stud extraction). Like this (stolen...

    More snapped bolts

The thin brown/fibre snap all the time for me. I have very good results with these - haven't snapped any, and wear most of them right down to the central metal ring (rather than them shattering the second they touch the thing I want to cut)...
