It's just my opinion. I've met them, I had one of my cars mapped by them (a long time ago when I didn't know better). I see things like this too which I've never come across with other manufacturers.

That car is a real credit to you, probably one of the most mechanically sorted around. For ease of sale though, personally I would get rid of the gauge pods and put the vent back in. Good luck with it.
