If the battery is disconnected are the programmed codes (seat position, auto door lock etc.) lost ? If so, should another battery be connected to the posts under the hood before and during the time the battery is disconnected? Thanks

Is it necessary to keep power to the battery cables when replacing the battery so that computer settings are retained? I don't mind resetting the clock and radio but I really don't want to pay the dealer to reset the computer codes. TFF

I agree with fire-n-ice about BMW of Macon. I left my 2003, with extended warranty and maintenance, with them for it's annual oil and filter change. When I picked it up I was told that the service records indicated that it was time for the cooling system and the brakes to have their systems...
