Ali Express adapters make the speaker wiring job easier. I wouldn’t historically have bothered, quite happy to solder, but I like these: Overall fitment is OK, not too pretty, not too ugly. Mesh grills are a bit tight though so I’m going to try material ones:

To access the iDrive and read the oil etc. you should just need to hold the ‘menu’ button on the iDrive controller down for 5 seconds. Same to switch back again. That’s how the MMI boxes work, presume the screen ones are pretty much the same….

It surprises me how quick and slick they are, totally agree it’s smoother than some factory units. I wasn’t getting my hopes up for little over £100, but in both cars it is a huge improvement to the system 🙌

Amp arrived from Amazon, got a warehouse ‘good’ one as I’m cheap. Looks to have had a connector stripped off the power cable, but apart from that condition appears to be as new for the Amp itself. OK, if it is optional then that's good - I can go without, then try coding it in and see if the change is +ve/-ve then take it from there. I'll dig through bimmercode and see if there is an obvious option, but I presume it is an advanced feature I need to read up on.

I was not aware of this, thanks for pointing it out! I have Bimmercode, so hopefully I can re-code the CIC unit with that? I’ll search for a how to guide, but if you know some easy steps that would also be appreciated!
