I have had them on a Mk 1 ford escort back in the 1970s and currently have had them on the sprite in place of the lever arms for probably 10 years with no issues. Low mileage but quite stressed ! Easily adjustable with a screwdriver on the side.
Morning all. Does anyone have a spare engine crossmember I could buy please. Mot last week mentioned corroded but not seriously weakened as an advisory. As I also have to replace the sump gasket I want to fit a refurbed replacement and then refurb mine. I will have to get my local indy to do...
Strangely coincidentally I was chatting with a friend yesterday. A neighbour of his had bought one fairly recently. Apparently the mileage is very poor, and they thought the whole thing was so awful they were going to sell it again despite the financial hit.
Last year used to do West Wales to East Sussex and back in a day with a break in the middle for about 6 hrs of client meetings once or twice a month. Did it in the Z a few times which was ok but harder than the Volvo / Audi. Tomorrow doing West Wales to N. London and then Somerset. Definitely a...
Just to add to the confusion there are at least 2 kinds of ratchet crimper tools. For un-insulated connectors (2001) and for insulated connectors (2003).
Also I agree soldering is often best - particularly where the wire is to be loomed. I know a couple of race engineers though who won't do...
I have a single set of 6 point Sparco seat belts. 2" straps (used with Hans). Very good condition and never stressed. Sadly now expired at end of 2025 for UK racing so I have had to replace them. Would be fine for track days etc. as long as FIA / MSA regs not required. I can include some ring...
I think the main issue is the subframe and diff bushes which were fitted by the Indy I used shortly after I got the car and they couldn't get oem ones at short notice. The original bushes, anti roll bar etc were all in a very poor state. The Rtabs, Z4M upper ball joints and powerflex rose...
Thanks for the info. Hardrace is not a name I've come across. Too late for the E86 as I have most of the bits already, however I do have an E46 330i coupe to do as well....
Agreed on the bushes. I have subframe, rtab and diff bushes all from Powerflex and the NVH is awful. I have been stockpiling oem type rubber to replace them all sometime this winter. Ok on a track car probably but too much for me for road use.
I had a similar issue last summer with the coupe. It had been fine for years and then just started leaking. An inch of water in passenger side and no apparent cause. Tried all the usual suspects. Turned out the door glass wasn't sealing very well at the top rear corner. Adjusting the window...
In the UK and FIA regs, the kill switch has to isolate the battery, so that switch would have to take any cables from the positive terminal, so I don't think it matters where the cables go to from the battery . We are also required to mark the battery earth strap with yellow or orange tape so...
