Thanks for the comments. I bought the wheels on a whim...but I really think they suit it, so they have stayed on for a year. It helps they have a wider offset and so fill the arches a lot better also.

Mine is currently in the body shop for some work, getting the bubbly arches fixed and a full respray. It is going to work out in the region of 5 to 6K give or take as it is having new rubbers, badges, new windscreen etc. So there is a rough guide for you from down south in Bournemouth.

So, I just thought I would add an ending to this thread. Two years later... I never did anything regarding the data wire that was pulled out of this plug. It only seemed to affect the stereo having "disabled" stuck on for a while, which then randomly cleared one day, the steering wheel controls...

Attempted my first MFSW refurb.. before and after... Removed the rubber coating using water and baking soda (absolutely ate through it, was very easy to do), filled a few cracks with modelling putty, sprayed with Hycote Primer and then Hycote Satin Black. Probably going to leave it as is...
