    Bizarre Steering Alignment

I think you're on to something here. The only thing I'd say is, how come the steering angle sensor is not all over the issue? I'm surprised it hasn't disabled the TC, ABS, etc. If it were me, I'd plug it into INPA and look at what's going on with the data.

    Sticky Steering and EPS module

You're right, mate. Too much information is not always the best approach. Yes, the steering works fine, as does the Sport button, albeit it sometimes sticks. Thanks for chipping in. While I've got your attention, it's also throwing codes, the spray nozzle heaters "open circuit". Have you come...

    Sticky Steering and EPS module

Hi all, I need your help. E85 3.0i SE roadster - I've had it for a few months now, but one area that keeps confusing me is the sticky steering malarkey. So I plugged the car into ISTA, having tried INPA, DIS and an Ancel OBD type tool. Of all of them, ISTA picked up that there was no...

    SOLD E85 3.0i Manual £2,750

£2700, before haggling, for a car with a V6 engine, manual, over 200bhp, a 0-60 time of less than 6 secs, 25 mpg average around town and ULEZ compliant is a rare thing. If you put that criteria into AutoTrader, you won’t find many cars for under £5k, regardless of mileage. When I searched, there...

    SOLD E85 3.0i Manual £2,750

Honestly, I can't get my head around why these cars are so cheap. They're as good as a Boxster, which would cost circa £5k for the 986 2.7 or £6/7k for a 3.2S. Oh well, a bargain is to be had for those who are quick.

    Head gasket gone?

I had this issue yesterday. The car has barely been driven over the past few weeks or so, just short journeys here and there. Pulled the oil filler cap, and my heart dropped. No coolant loss or excessive white smoke, so I dived into the internet for reassurance. I took it for a long drive with...

New E85 owner - fluid leak

Thanks, folks, you guys are very helpful. I've ordered a replacement part and will swap it out once it's received. As an aside, compared to Porsche Boxster 986 ownership, these cars are a breath of fresh air. They don't appear to be designed specifically to discourage the home mechanic from...

Alignment numbers - lots of red

Hey all, as you were kind enough to help me with my leak issue, I'm hoping you can give me some pointers on where to go next. The operative at the alignment shop couldn't adjust the alignment and made some notes on the printout. I wasn't even charged for his effort, and I'll be welcomed back...

New E85 owner - fluid leak

I finally managed to get under the car for a proper gander. It seems that the leak is coming from the washer fluid reservoir, or somewhere else. Thoughts and guidance welcome.

    E85 Sport Mode

I'm new to these cars, too. The sport button, when I remember to press it, illuminates with a red dot on the button. It stiffens the steering, sharpens the throttle, and the exhaust peps up. The car becomes more urgent, fun, although I'm not sure of the impact it has on fuel consumption.

New E85 owner - fluid leak

Thanks guys. For sure there’s some sort of fluid swilling around at the base if the car, moving from the rear and now appearing to have exited at the front bumper area. I haven’t had a chance to have a deeper look, but as it is leaving an oil based stain, my hunch is either hydraulic fluid -...

New E85 owner - fluid leak

Thanks guys. I haven’t had a sniff of it yet, but it’s a weird one. I’ve come from Porsches, having recently sold a MY03 Boxster S and 997 C2 - difficult cars to work on for sure, but this leak from the extremities of the car has got me stumped. Are there drain holes at the front? The oil...

New E85 owner - fluid leak

By way of an update, I've just been out to the car to have another look. The rear of the car is up on ramps, the bumper is dry at the bottom on both ends, the brake fluid is full to the brim, but now there's a stain on the floor near the driver's side front bumper. Just the one side. I've no...

New E85 owner - fluid leak

Hey all, nice to meet you. I recently acquired a MY05 3.0i manual roadster with 142k miles on the clock. The car seems fine and drives quite well, although it suffers from "sticky steering" and occasionally the rack, or whatever, groans when turning the wheel. The previous owner suspected a...
