Thats odd because the parcel shelf switch will only prevent the roof opening. It doesn't prevent the roof closing, so i think you've other issues

So, this means that BMW installed it wrong in thousands & thousands of E85s in the factory yet miraculously, they all worked fine except this one. Wow Lucky !!
