But they could just have replaced them with oil temperature gauges. I'd rather have any sort of temperature gauge in my 330i than the poxy meaningless economy swingometer. :mad:
I know exactly what you mean about the R56 dipstick as the former Mrs Tidy bought one at the launch event in 2006. Reading it was pretty much guesswork!
When BMW launched the E9* 3 Series in 2005 they gave them an electronic dipstick, electric water pump and no temperature gauge, which wasn't...
When I had the gearbox oil replaced in my 325ti (also M54 engine with a 5 speed box) my Indy used MTF LT2 although I've no idea which brand!
He used the same when he did my previous E86 with an N52 and a 6 speed FWIW.
The crucial bits missing from Homer's post are the offsets and whether they rubbed. Sadly he doesn't seem to have been on here since selling his car in July 2025 so is unlikely to read this.
