    Wipers not working

I had tried everything else - it was Colin at BMS who then traced it to the GM5 and it was a case of it really can't be anything else. Still a nervous wait until this morning when he told me the wipers were working again. I had contacted the company who repaired the GM5 asking if he had come...

    Wipers not working

So finally. Seems there was no signal coming from the GM5 module to the wipers. Now I had had this repaired when I got the car as the central locking was not working. As you may know, when the GM5 is disconnected several components don't work - including wipers. So clearly there is something in...

    Wipers not working

Not really. Well fitted the used fuse board taking care to ensure all relays and fuses were exactly the same. Fiddly but not too bad. Still wipers don't work :x So car is going in to my local Indy - Colin at BMS. Hopefully he will figure it. Will keep thread up-dated.

    Wipers not working

If it works I'll be very happy. I'm doing all this to help out the lady who bought the car from me. And yes, I'll be splitting the old board to investigate further.

    Wipers not working

So used fuse board arrived and no sign of any K37 relay in the area indicated by relay diagrams. I can just see circuit board through the gaps in plastic. It looks like you could split the entire board but it'll be fiddly. I think I will swap the board over in the hope that if there is some sort...

    Wipers not working

Well - tried the replacement motor and wipers still not working. Have ordered a used fuse board to see if I can figure out from this where the fabled K37 relay is located. Will keep updating until this is resolved - I'm sure it will affect other owners at some point.

    Wipers not working

Up-date - No wiper relay in engine bay fuse / relay box. Even with ignition off there is 12v at 3 of the 4 connections in the black connector that plugs in to the wiper motor. Took motor out again and could not get any movement when applying 12v direct to the 4 pins on the motor so have to...

    Wipers not working

I dropped the fuse/relay board down in to the footwell so it was easy to see both sides. The shaped cover when the fuse board is in place is on the engine side. But no sign of K37 relay. I read that on E46 there is a wiper relay in the panel under the bonnet in corner of engine bay.

    Wipers not working

Well got access to the relay side of fuse board at the weekend. Done it before so quite easy now. The K36 relay is on the bottom right of 4 relays of same size in a square formation. Had already replaced this previously but swapped if for new one I had just in case. Still not working. The...

    Wipers not working

Thanks for that bigwinn - confirms there are 2 relays for wipers so will make sure both work

    Wipers not working

I sold my Z4 couple of months ago to a friend who lives local. Seems the wipers have packed in again so I told her bring it around and I'll have a look. Took motor out and it works when live and earth applied to 2 of the terminals. I have already done the cleaning the grease fix. There is power...

    Head Gasket Woes

Believe me it was not an easy decision to part with it. Has to be the best fun/bangs for your bucks car I have ever owned. My daughter loves it but she can't get insurance until she is 21 and I just don't have anywhere to park or store it for 2 years. But I told her there will still be plenty of...

    Head Gasket Woes

After I had stripped out the rad again it was clear I had not seated the oil cooler thermostat properly. I had taken the precaution of ordering a new one (which was good as old one fell apart as I was taking it out - the plastic was so soft) I re-seated it properly and replaced several O rings...

    Head Gasket Woes

Just checked cooling system operating pressure as I ordered new cap. I knew it was higher than most other systems but 29 psi! At that pressure it is very likely that the old rad let go in a big way and that the old o rings were not good enough to hold that pressure with the new rad. I am now 99%...
