Hi All, Can anyone recommend a tyre fitter in the Cambridge / Bury St. Edmunds area? I've had and heard firsthand far too many bad experiences with fitters, so recommendations are welcome. Thanks :driving:

Guide To Burning MP3 Files To Avoid 'CD Error' Message On BMW Professional Head Unit

Hello, thought I'd share how I burn MP3 data CDs for listening to in my 2009 E89 with Professional head unit. Sharing as frequently I find using Windows built-in burning feature causes the head unit to display 'CD Error' message. Download, install and run 'BurnAware Free' for Windows. At the...

Suspect Oil Temperature Gauge Not Showing Correct Temp

Hi All, Thanks for the replies. Sunday was much warmer weather around 21c. After around 7 miles the temp gauge was at 80c, by 12 miles the gauge was at 100c. Sorry the Z4 doesn't seem to have a problem at all, it was myself being unfamiliar with the behaviour for in colder weather. Again...

Suspect Oil Temperature Gauge Not Showing Correct Temp

Hello All Since putting the Z4 back on the road after a year in lockdown I've noticed the oil temp gauge struggles to reach what I'd expect to be normal - 90c after a typical drive of 15 miles. Now, this could be me being unfamiliar after not driving the Z4 for a while, however, after over a...

    Rear stability issues

I had a similar problem, the fix was to also replace the front tyres. The stability system was detecting too much of a rotation difference in the new tyres on the rear to the old tyres on the front, the stability system was trying to correct what it thought was the car out of control. The...

Question on changing discs and pads please

Thanks Rob for pointing this out and rattling my brain thinking about how I put my e89 ebrake in to service mode. After a rethink, I remember borrowing a rather expensive Foxwell bit of kit.

Question on changing discs and pads please

I used Carly to put my e-brake into service mode, this fully unwinds the brake. When I completed replacing pads, discs, sensors, and fluid I simply applied the e-brake as normal i.e. didn't use Carly to take it out of service mode. Worked well for me. Good luck :)

E89 ‘Wheels’ thread.... post your pic’s

Has anyone got style 294 V spoke in ferrite grey or similar on a space grey e89? If so, would you mind uploading a photo? I'm going to refurb mine this year and pondering over changing colour to grey. Refurbing as the lacquer (I think it's lacquer anyway!) is blistering and flaking off, also...

    Battery Charger

Hi all, I too ordered a CTEK MXS 5.0 from Amazon, around £72 I recall. I was a little concerned the supplied Connect Clamp maynot be long enough to reach both terminals, for anyone else thinking the same don't worry too much they do reach - but with little spare slack.

    Driver's Sport Seat Deflating

Hello All, I have a 2009 Z4 e89 and a 2008 1 series e78, both have Sports seats with inflatable side bolsters. The driver's seat on the Z4 deflate within just a few minutes (approx. <5mins) of inflating, the passenger's seat is fine. Both, driver's and passenger's seat on the 1 series function...

    Rear indicator light failure

Okay one year on and the rear n/s has failed again - had this replaced under two year parts warranty. However, in addition the o/n/s has failed too - Replaced at a cost of £329 inc. VAT. Wrote to BMW with words of dissatisfaction, again, as before, no goodwill. If the problem is likely to...

water in boot. an inherent problem?

I had water collecting the storage bin located nearside of the boot. The cause was water ingress in the rear tale light, the light unit was replaced curing both water collecting in the bin and water ingress. However, after just over one year the light has started to fog up and collect...

Passenger door top speaker housing removal

Thanks zebedee. Took a quick look at removing the tweeter door housing after you posted your instructions, however, I got nervous about breaking something. So decided to leave it for a hot summers day when the plastics would be more malleable. Today, I decided to go for it, taking a photo to...

    Zed Upgrade

+1 I'm not sold on the interior styling of the Cayman/Boxster. The second generation Cayman/Boxster interior is much better than the first, however, as much as I want to like it, for me I prefer the second generation Z4 coupled with the retractable hardtop as a bonus. If the interior of the...
