well, i think your simplfying it a bit. The Z4M wasn't released until 2006. Plus, i imagine the car you've seen is a 2.0, with a list price of £22k 6 years ago. Meaning its lost approx £16k (£2.5k per year) or about 65%. A Z4M started at £42k, so if you can pick up a 2006 for, say £20k -...

what is the radio reception like with these smaller aerials?

yeah, i dont see the point in them, they just slow the process... Driving an exige with one - you twist the key, then press the button... its an extra step you dont need to make..
