Auto Electon Harrogate, Roof motor replacement

Sorely tempted to get him to do this rather than fiddling with getting the roof out myself. Did he mount the motor on the bulkhead behind the seats, or on the passenger side near the suspension mount? Also does it sound louder if he's bolted a bracket to the bodywork?

    Boot locking issue.

Ok, so now the footwell switch has stayed stuck in after pressing it (gently) and it's as if it's now disabled, but on the plus side the boot shuts first time... Is there's some sort of user setting in the car's computer that could be causing this?

    Boot locking issue.

Thanks srhutch, I'll give that a try. So if I understand correctly, you loosen off the striker plate (catch bracket as BMW call it) just enough to allow it to move, then close the lid on it. Reopen the lid and it should leave the catch bracket in the right position so you can then fully...

Getting rid of mould, algae and creases on your soft top.

I've found that a gentle steaming using the nozzle attachment on the missus' Shark Steam Cleaner does a pretty good job at shifting the stubborn algae and mould spots. I was inspired to give it a go after seeing this...

    Boot locking issue.

Hi folks, Just traded my old silver 2.5i roadster in for a sapphire black 3.0i SE and am now working through the obligatory niggles again (i.e. 3 watt headlights and a dead roof motor... of course... but it did come with an immaculate hard top, bag and bits 8) ) This minor niggle's got me...

    roof motor in the boot

Hey Tug, Just a question about the hydraulics and wires routing into the boot. I understand that you remove the left hand folding top compartment mount to pass the pipes behind, then screw it back into place. Do you have to carve out a slot in the plastic moulding for the pipes to fit?

    roof motor in the boot

If only it were possible to release the hoop at the back and lift it upwards or push it inwards a bit. With the boot tray out you can see the top couple of inches of the motor clearly so accessing it through the passenger rear quarter of the roof would be a doddle.

    water proofing hood

Sadly, just a little word of warning about any of the waxier roof waterproofing liquids. I treated my Zed a month and a half ago with two coats of Renovo. When applying, some of this inevitably pours down the sides of the roof instead of soaking into the fabric and eventually works its way down...

dodged a bullet - DISA valve disintegrated

Thanks bigshurv. I'm collecting a new one at 1:30 today :) £124.65 + vat from the Stealers... and a new rubber inlet boot.

dodged a bullet - DISA valve disintegrated

Hi guys, even though it doesn't seem to be rattling, I just checked my DISA whilst I was investigating my "ghost whistle" (yep, there's a split in the concertina part of the lower inlet boot) The metal pin seems to be secure but the flap has about 5mm of rotational slack before it stiffens up...
