    How long is "Lifetime"

I agree, AI only works on the crap it's trained on... garbage in, garbage out.

    How long is "Lifetime"

I recently aquired my new pride and joy, an E85 2.5L Automatic, with 59k miles on the clock. What I'm trying to decide is does the transmission fluid need replacing? I've asked various people and received a wide variety of responses from "no, it's lifetime" to "lifetime in BMW terms is the...

    Roof motor sticking

As I did try to explain before, I appreciated the feedback and followed what I could from the advice. It was indeed helpful. It wasn't AI that informed me, it was the first reaction of the BMW specialist when he saw the motor mounted in the boot. Had I been younger and more agile, I would have...

    Roof motor sticking

I appreciated all the advice and offers of assistance, so thank you to everyone who responded to the post. I'm new to the Z4, so i'm just a newbie, learning the ropes and the advice was appreciated. The relocation into the boot had been done by the person I bought the car from, so I suspect that...

    Roof motor sticking

Resolved the roof problem. I took it in to a BMW specialist and he immediately identified that whoever had relocated the motor to the boot area had installed it inverted, i.e. with the hydraulic fluid reservoir at the top. Once it had been turned the right way up (reservoir at the bottom), it...

    Roof motor sticking

On raising the roof, the motor whines and changes pitch as if it's struggling and then stops when it's 25-30% of the way up, leading edge just past the roll-hoops. When lowering the roof the motor is usually ok.

    Roof motor sticking

I don't see any red ring manual release at all on my motor, but nor do I see any obvious hydraulic fluid in the reservoir. Generally it's hard to see the top section of the motor without removing panels.

    Roof motor sticking

I recently purchased a 2008 E85 and the roof has been working fine for the last couple of weeks. It already had the roof motor relocated to the boot when I bought it. However it has started to experience problems both in raising and lowering the top. When raising the top, it struggles and...

First Week of Ownership - My thoughts

I can totally relate to this. I'm planning a little road-trip with my daughter to take her to her university graduation. Hope it's a sunny day so that I too can have the roof down and add to the occasion.

    Demise of the convertible?

I'm a newbie to this forum and to Z4 ownership but I sometimes wonder whether we get lulled into a false sense of security by having that metal roof overhead and that more forgiving ride and the inherent quiet, surrounded in a cocoon of perceived safety, can tempt us to go a little faster than...

New proud owner of a Z4

Hello everyone, I am now the new and delighted owner of an 08 Z4 2.5 SE Auto, with 59k on the clock. It's in excellent condition, with no signs of rust even underneath (I had it up on a lift). So far, the roof motor has been repositioned, but most other parts seem to be original. The only...
