E85 Daily - Anyone still doing it?

I’m using my ’03 3.0 E85 as a only car, but ‘daily’ might a bit much. Living in the center of Amsterdam, I do a lot of daily things/shopping/errands walking or by bike, and some of my business appointments are easier by public transport. Generally I’d say I use the car 3-4 times a week for...

Suspension failed MOT, coilovers/ return to standard.

I hope to give you my view on this soon! My original 2003 M-sports suspension is pretty tired and needs a refresh. After debating forever a Bilstein/Eibach setup or coilovers, in the end I ordered an ST XA height and rebound adjustable set-up last week. Regarding the cheaper comment. Taking...

    Got some new brakes!

Great to read, I just picked up a pair of 3.0 Si calipers and brackets (the last being the hardest to find, don’t want to get the X3 brackets!). Going to do a little refurb on them as well.

Anyone used ST XA coilovers e86 3.0si?

Well, after a look a debating, back and forth, and faffing about I just ordered a set of ST XA’s. Was planning to install myself, but the shop I ordered does a lot of them and has quite a decent offer on install and alignment. Was planning on XTA’s, but he recommend XA’s as in his experience...

Anyone used ST XA coilovers e86 3.0si?

Thanks, that makes sense! I was trying to wrap my head around how it would work mechanically... From reading feedback, for road use more castor seems to make more sense than more camber.

Anyone used ST XA coilovers e86 3.0si?

@DaveD, firstly thanks for sharing your experience. Looking at the ST XTA top mount, I just have one (probably stupid) question. I can see how you can change the camber by sliding the mounting point laterally in the top mount. But how do you adjust castor (as the benefits seem clear), as that...

    Selling Advice

Not wanting to derail your thread, but again just flabbergasted at UK car pricing. That is a £ 12-14k car here on the continent.

Suspension Refresh on E85 3.0 si

@TriggerFish have you mounted these yet? in this thread @r3vmatch mentions that you need to make a notch in the plates to clear the roof support bracket. Based on the pics and some AI help I made a rough template to make the notch in advance. Haven’t tried it yet myself, use at your own risk! I...

FOR SALE Various items nearly 200 items

Thanks @Cv6benplus ! It would primarily just be for the bases. I’m trying to merge the base of a set of E46 sport seats with the backs of my standard/SE heated seats. I managed to get a pair of cloth E46 sports seats, and some heated leather seat covers but with cut wires. I’m could cut off the...

Anyone used ST XA coilovers e86 3.0si?

I believe that the kits come with those parts included, and the STA also with (adjustable) top mounts.

Anyone used ST XA coilovers e86 3.0si?

Yes, you are correct. Added those later and forgot (and as I already bought them no more real impact on the money yet to spend...). Sharp eye! Updated sheet added.

Anyone used ST XA coilovers e86 3.0si?

Haha, thanks! Yeas, you could leave them off for the ST options indeed. I left them on, as I’m thinking on using the Eibachs on the rear as some users have reported the ST rear springs being a bit too stiff for road use. Also note the Eibach price it not the price you get them new for, but...

Anyone used ST XA coilovers e86 3.0si?

Updated my comparison Excel Added droplinks to the ST options as according to the website it looks they are not included. Added ST X and ST XA into the overview, and hopefully added/removed the correct generic parts needed to fit them. Of course, you can get the generic hardware for better...
