    Strange grinding noise

Hi maniac It just felt as though it wasn't as planted as normal. The sort of feel you get when the tyre pressure are too low. Not as bad as when the rear suspension bushes popped out of my Z3.

    Strange grinding noise

Has a strange one on the way to work this morning. For a second or so there was a loud metalic grinding noise from the nearside rear. I initally thought that it might just be a little stone briefly caught between the disc and the pad. However, the rest of the trip to work, the back end felt a...

    Binned the run-flats

Life just gets better and better! After the agro regarding my cracked alloy (see thread E89 problems), on Saturday I noticed a screw in near the sidewall of one of the rears. Of course, on a trip to my local tyre shop, it couldn't be fixed. Didn't have one in stock, so I took the decision, that...

    Another cracked wheel

Why did I spell gesture with a J? must be stress.

    Another cracked wheel

Ronk: It is the radial run-out. Had a reply from BMW..........no sorry can't help. I have just spoken to customer services and it seems that the 2mm run-out is the allowance on certain types of wheels only. i.e. those that are prone to cracking. All other wheels are 0.2 mm. Hence no dosh. So...

    Another cracked wheel

Had the run-out test done yesterday and was out by 0.9 mm, so they are taking up the matter with BMW. Fingers crossed.

    Another cracked wheel

Still waiting to hear from them, but have decided to go the non runflat route when they need replacing. Never had a cracked alloy in 35 years of motoring, but never had run flats before.

    Another cracked wheel

Just had MOT done at Sopers in Lincoln and my nearside rear is cracked. I'm waiting to see what they come back with in the way of an offer rather than a straight £370 for a new wheel. Not many 18" wheels crack it seems, but just shows it is not confined to 19" Dave

    rear brake pads at 24k?

24000 for the rears on mine. Not sure what's going on these days cos my Mrs need the rears on her Tiguan changed at 31K

Sport / manual. No first gear

I have the 35i with DCT and it will always select 1st when I come to a stop. As a guess it's a software problem, but the more informed on here will probably set you right.

    Google

Well I don't really see it as a support services when iDrive was one of the big selling points at the time, and all the it entailed. It's like having a sky+ box that stops letting you record things unless you pay more money.

    Google

Thanks for that. Thought that might be the case, even if it is a bit of a con losing some of the idrive functionality unless you fork out more cash.

    Google

I'm sure someone can answer this one quickly. If you no longer have BMW assist does this mean that google local search stops and thus traffic information for the sat nav is also stopped. Dave

    Another recommendation for SOPERS

Well their parts might be cheap, but their service is s**te. Back for the third time tomorrow to, hopefully, have the faults that THEY caused fixed

    Sopers Lincoln

Sopers in Lincoln are still up to their usual level of competence! Had the MOT a few weeks ago, needed a couple of new tyres (no surprise) and they are as cheap as anyone. They managed to take a big chunk out of one of the wheels and when the 'boy' washed it (stupid of me I know) he mearly...
