I would go for the E89 over an E86. I actually prefer the rear end and light of the E89 and roof down is what these roadsters are all about.
E89 over an E85 is a different matter. It depends if you want more refinement / space or a slightly more traditional, smaller and lighter roadster.

Sounds like the DSP amp has had it or has been badly modified / bypassed . Get that fixed and then see what improvement is needed.
There was no lack of bass for me before the new DSP curve. Quite the opposite..
That's the one. It seriously improved the sound I got.
Also turn down the automatic volume increase, this also boosts the bass way too much.

Find the post on here where someone did a spectrum analysis of the coupe top hifi system and provided a DSP curve that transforms it into something enjoyable.
Tripods work great as 3rd legs.
Leave the old caliper still connected until the new one is in position and quickly switch the banjo bolts over. Then open the bleed nipple on the new caliper and gravity bleed. Once you see fluid, tighten it up and put the tripod / whatever between the steering...
