I did send you a pm I think. Can you post better photos. Its hard to tell the condition. Do you have any proof like pics that the screen has no dead pixels.

Bought this and part-paid what the seller requested and he said he had posted it on Friday and would pass on tracking info. No tracking details despite several emails asking for an update. Item not marked as sold. Said he had a family issue to deal with but I see that he is posting on his other listings here instead of updating me. Anyone else bought from him?

How did you pay? Can you recoup if it’s dodgy?

So I sent him a few mails. He responded to one and sent me some pics. I pm'd him and emailed saying that to me the item looked either very dirty or very scratched and did he have any proof of no missing pixels. No response. After some days I sent another pm saying I had more questions. He replied saying her did not get my email. Sent it again. No response. Happy to post proof.

Good luck. It's a little on the nose.

Nah, fell for the "Paypal Friends and family to avoid fees" line thinking he was legit cos he was in the forum. Lesson learned.

Was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but he isnt coming good. Not sure how else to read this other than a scam - happy to be proved wrong though.

Dont think so but will see if I get any update from him tomorrow and if not I'll escalate it as a scam.
Someone else has already reported this, so if you don't get a response tomorrow please report it and I'll do what I can.

Although 12 posts with 4 of them on this thread isn't looking promising. :(

I was going to buy a steering wheel for an M3 E30 off the same seller, same patter, item reduced down to half price to clear.....When I went to do a bank transfer my bank interjected and said they were suspicious so I pulled out and messaged him to say thank but no thanks. He then came back trying to give reassurance etc but I said no thanks. I did think about flagging this but I had no proof other than the bank saying 'it looks a bit dodgy, it's up to you...'
In hindsight I should have flagged, apologies @Any1else

We had a similar problem on mx5nutz many moons ago, I bought, a set of coilovers that never turned up, after reading a few threads, and several dodgy replies from the seller I threatened to take legal action and soon got my money back.
I think I was lucky as he was known personally to many members on the forum and was having finacial difficulties and selling non existing parts paying people off with the sale of other non existing items, crazy or what.
Personally I think everybody needs to be more vigilant, someone who just joins a forum and starts posting items for sale should ring alarm bells. Contact admin, ask for details about the seller, ask if he/she has been reported.
And if so, name and shame.
May save someone else getting stung.

This guy's (screen guy) also offered to take a deposit and send me the item to prove there was nothing wrong with it. He said I could send it back if i was not happy and he would refund my deposit. Big red flag. When I asked for more photos because to me the screen looked either quite scratched on the plastic parts of very dirty I got silence.

Those screens are like hens teeth. The price alone should have alerted me along with the rapid discounting.

I think you have been scammed. Very sorry. Its happened to me.

Please send him a response or you'll be removed from the forum to ensure others don't have similar issues.

He emailed this morning with a story and an apology and I said I wanted a refund. He said he would arrange it as soon as he could access his Paypal account after he finished work at 7:30. Still nothing after 2 hours and several more emails.

It's that long since I joined I can't remember but what's the minimum information required to set-up a forum account - email and address?

Is there a way to restrict members posting in the for sale section until they have attained a certain level of credibility. They could still post links to Facebook or eBay listing's but at least then other members would likely be more cautious when agreeing to a purchase?

Unfortunately these individuals have no moral compass and have no hesitation in relieving individuals of their hard earned cash and / or wasting their precious time 😡

This is really poor.
On the babybmw forum sellers have to post pictures of the item with a piece of paper showing the date and their user name. That would help but still not foolproof.
Buyer beware I guess.
But I have even bought something from an established seller on here and it didn’t work, and he never replied to my PMs. Mods didn’t do much tbh either.
Had many other safe purchases though from several other established members. Plus really good after sales install help too.

Great shout, also a good rule of thumb, if they have minimal posts, not registered long I tend to avoid them like the plague or request to meet in person.

As expected nothing so far. He emailed this morning saying he had set up a refund to my email address but, wouldn’t you know, he missed a letter out so it didn’t come to me. Think I am now just being ignored. Some kind of repercussions would be a good deterrent for this in a respected forum.
