Best mod I've seen from you so far - very special.
Extra marks for the mounting solution - pure class.
Amazing car and massive respect for what you have done, but imho I would de spoiler and de badge if it were me.
Hey it looks no worse than the M50 badge![]()
TBH I test fitted as a spoof..unfortunately the glue melted the paint…so can’t now remove it without a re-paint…heh hoI quite like the M50i badge. Makes sense.
That or get an X5M badge and re-order it to look like a Mazda....
You could always add an Alpina badge to the M50i to really wind people up.TBH I test fitted as a spoof..unfortunately the glue melted the paint…so can’t now remove it without a re-paint…heh ho
Next time I’ll bite the bullet and go Z4M and get the full wrath..
Yes that would..however my logic has a grain of truth / reality …Alpina would be off piste completely…not that I don’t like Alpinas..You could always add an Alpina badge to the M50i to really wind people up.
I wonder what the options would be for something absolutely OTT - I think the subtle aftermarket parts are all kindof 'meh'.Yes one of my finest…still I explored the option..unlike the keyboard warriors / armchair critics…
Obviously putting it out there engenders various responses..
Such a personal thing..my view wass that the 'M' cars of that vintage, Z4M, E90M3 were relatively subtle in their 'M' ness..broader shoulders maybe, quad exhaust, small spoilers / diffusers etc etc..I wonder what the options would be for something absolutely OTT - I think the subtle aftermarket parts are all kindof 'meh'.
Thinking along the lines of 911 ducktail, or maybe something akin to the m3 GT2 - go big & bold - would that work better?
Obviously polarising - but if you like it you like it.
Something for a more skilled person than me to photoshop up & see how it might work?
Timing is everything.. the E90s were coming to their end well before the E89 started to roll of the production line.Seeing this is an E range car, if the M division had got hold of the E89 and had a play, I dare say it would/should have had the S65B40 V8 from the M3 as the E85/6 Z4M had the S54 from the E46 M3. They may have also increased the track, perhaps even further by flaring the arches again as they did with the E46 M3
Regardless, you have done a great deal to your car to make it your own version, we can only guess as to what the engineers at Garching would have done to the e89.
The normally aspirated V8 connected to a manual transmission in the E89 would have been awesome, dump the folding roof for a proper coupe body saving some weight.
I'm trying! Probably an e85 though... if that counts.Feel free to buy another E89 and lead the way! Please!
Yup..I reached a fork in the road when I came into some money when I had my mildly tweaked 20i MSport... go G29 M40i, go 35i/35is addressing the known deficient aspects in terms of handling /reliability/ plus mild cosmetics etc / go F Type..I'm trying!
But whatever I get will end up pretty much standard TBH - these tweaks are not for me, much as I can appreciate some of the under hood goodness you have done - the visual stuff (from the colour onwards) just isn't my cup of tea.
I don't plan to have an inheritance tax problem as we are not planning to leave any money to anyone!-Not prying, but I imagine you have an inheritance tax problem, and it seems your spend on this car is probably helping that
I couldn’t help but laugh at some of the comments on your duplicate post on FB
True, but the last E46s had been made before BMW put the S54 into the E85/6.Timing is everything.. the E90s were coming to their end well before the E89 started to roll of the production line.
