Always a delicate balance between taste, style, practicality with mods..

Probably none more so than 'aerodynamic' mods..

Personally I detest splitters, side skirts and wings..especially if they are left unpainted..!

However..I do think a nice colour matched bijou rear boot spoiler enhances the visual appeal of the E89 bottom..not ugly but not its prettiest part.

As a man who believes in if one is good, two is even better I looked at rood based spoilers.

A chap (ironically from Ukraine) made a very neat job of an E89 roof spoiler many years ago..hand made!

AFAIK nobody currently makes a roof based E89 spoiler.

I decided (without doing my Google based research) to have a go myself.

Given the E89 is an E90/E80 parts bin special I thought I'd buy a cheap c/f E80 spoiler from AliExpress (£20) and see what gives as a basis for cutting n shutting.

Turns out the glass on E80s is actually narrower than E89s!-;)

So its a no as a starter..

Even worse..

There's very little room when the roof pack is folded in the boot..so the spoiler would have to be minimalist in fashion / form.

Finally..having done my reading I discovered that adding roof spoilers to saloon / coupe type body shapes ruins the effect of the tail spoiler.

And..of all the aerodynamic devices you could add to an E89, a small rear spoiler is the best by far!

Yes I agree …I often dabble ‘At the edge’…I wear my heart / failures on my sleeve as well as my triumphs and achievements…!

Took the words out of my keyboard (aka mouth). Although I would have phrased it less politely. ;)
 
How about those little plastic strips that hang off the rear bumper and stop you being car sick 😫
 
It's probably just as well it didn't vaguely fit. :laugh:

I wouldn't fit something like that to my E90 Shed!

I cant believe you didnt do your research :unsure: You are going to hate my 3.0si when you see it on the March NC500 😉
