What have you done to your E89 today

Upgraded my steering wheel to the -+ paddles instead of the old style. Also had it retrimmed by Royals, very nice job!

Boot light no longer works though so probably broke something while I was disconnecting the battery... actually thinking about it the light flashed on when I reconnected the battery so maybe it's a fuse?

Nice..I did an Audi chop on the bottom of my Royal version..

I considered that myself too! Using my partner's Polo with the chop has been very nice, but decided to stay relatively stock for the zed in the end. The perforated sides on the retrim are lovely to hold though

Oh, I didn't know the new paddles fitted. Do they work too? Not that I've ever used mine but they look better!

Great job on the Royal retrim, always money well spent.

Today I ordered salmon relays, 2 hall sensors and 2 microswitches to try and sort my boot problem.

Looking forward to getting them fitted but I fear knowing my luck the issue will be frayed wiring!

Am I right in thinking those are the "new" rear lights with only 2 screws?
There were many revisions of the lights ..but any made post 2011 should be two screw not three..

I happened to buy another used steering wheel that already had the paddles as it was much cheaper than any I could find separately. I believe the new paddles fit on older wheels too though and they're functional

I appreciate it wont be to everyone's taste, but I added an illuminated gear knob.
It's only a cheap copy, it's not perfect, and I can put the original one back on.
I tapped into the cigar circuit for the power (I made a Y with a couple of Molex connectors for illumination and negative).
It's a little difficult to get the photo to show it how I see it, but the illumination level is on-par with the rest of the dashboard, so it's not "in your face"

Spent the last 3 days and finished today detailing the engine bay: View attachment 285555View attachment 285556View attachment 285557

What did you use on the rubbers and plastics?
After cleaning:
On all the rubber seals on the car (e.g. where the bonnet closes in he engine bay and all the roof, window and door seals etc), I have used Gummi Pflege.
On all the plastics, I have used a product called Carpro Perl. I like that because it doesnโ€™t stay too shiny after you rub it in.

I was going to de-badge but then decided to replace the chrome Z4 rear badge with a black one all the way from China for ยฃ7.
