E85 Vert motor

I don’t know if this is the right spot but…
my e85 z4 I was replacing the convertible top motor located in the trunk right behind driver seat and put the new one in and no power at all to the motor i tried moving the luggage thing and swapping the wires around

Any lights when you press the hood up/down button?

lights up but nothing the old one before pulling it would at least whine

So the old one had power to it, but the new one doesn't? I assume you have checked there is no power, or are you just guessing as it doesn't make any noise? Either you have a dud motor, or you did something during the relocation that has killed the electrics. Possibly you shorted something? At the top of the fusebox, there is a big orange 40A fuse (Number 55). Check you haven't blown that.

could it have been from putting the wires on the wrong way because i took a picture to try to do it exact but never checked maybe it shorted then?

No the pump would just run backwards

Does the roof unlatch still or not?

So you have done something that’s stopping the process working

Do any lights come on? If yellow the micro switch is not depressed.

Do the windows need resetting?

i press the button it comes up yellow but windows don’t go down i tried to see if it was the trunk shelf switch but wasn’t

It’s your trunk switch

The metal armature will have come loose

Find it

Put it back



Take the microswitch out you’ll see how the armature sits in place

If it’s lost, as an emergency you can loop the microswitch out by just closing the switch or loop the wires

I just remembered I unscrewed the left side will definitely try to screw it in and see what happens

I’m not sure what you mean by screwed in the left side of the micro switch

To be clear- it’s the switch sat recessed in the rear trunk wall that the parcel shelf sits in?

I never even noticed that I see what your saying now so do i put the shelf back on it or hold it down while someone clicks the button?

If the silver armature is still in place the shelf should press it down

So after all this are you saying the shelf isn’t fitted?

all of the videos i watch they are testing the top but don’t have the shelf in nor say to re install
