Takes loads of effort and in my case a summer I'll never get back. Dont get me wrong, it's been a worthwhile experience as I got my money back, helped a bunch of good people on here, learnt loads about the z4, have spare modules/plastics/hard to find Z4M running gear etc but not something I'd take on again.

Sorry to hear that, I know it's a sad moment but at least no one got hurt. I actually bought another Z4MR a few months after as I really missed the roof down visceral experience.

For sure mine looked fixable. It was just that the insurers would use new BMW parts. There was a tiny crease in the bonnet, new bonnet was 2.5k apparently. Needed a bumper plus the under car bits, steering rack, oil cooler too. Plus a new airbag. Paint and labour.
I'm in no hurry for another fun car right now. We have my daily shed and MrsG's Mx5. Toying with the idea of a camper van for mountaineering trips. Only toying though, not looking.

Dismantled old iPod integration from the trunk (with the obsolete wide Apple connector), waiting for a new Bluebus unit from ECS tuning.

I can confirm the bonnet was £2.5k plus VAT and with no due date/on back order as there weren't any in BMW group stock when I enquired back in April. Bumpers were available but silly expensive once they factor in grills, brackets, washer jets etc.buzyg wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 12:04 amFor sure mine looked fixable. Finally getting round to taking the rear bumper off and putting the new parking sensors on , so while doing this thought I'd give the drain plugs a clean , they weren't bad at all really took a few photos along the way.oh and I got all the plastic pins out without braking one.im now ready to paint the crash bar tomorrow then start putting the bumper back on the car with working parking sensors I hope.

What have you done to your car today?
I fitted led bulbs in all interior light places in my Z4 E85 2006 this weekend. Replacing all the original halogen 12V bulbs.
Brand: RohS. 12V led. Colour: warm white. No change needed in the original lamp holder clips. No fault codes on dash.
I noticed two melted lamp holders, one in the storing place between the seats, one in the glove box. Damaged because of the high temperatures of the original bulbs. Do you recognise this in your Z4?

Gave my z4c a good clean and wax polish today. Looked fantastic in the late afternoon sun. Just put a cover on the car, from Classic Additions. We'll see how that goes, hopefully give a bit of protection through the winter months and not too much bother to put on and off for weekend driving.

Removed callipers and carriers from the car, machined them back to metal and painted them black. Took the opportunity to give the wheel arches and pipework a good clean but completely forgot to takes any photos. Reassembled and bled the brakes, then went for a drive
It’s the third zed that I’ve painted the callipers, but the first time I’ve done it with them off the car. I was a bit hesitant to open the brake lines to be honest, but if you block the brake pedal correctly, you lose hardly any fluid and bleeding is a doddle.

Stripped out the centre console which took about 90 minutes as most of it in the dark. Found some lights in the end which made it easier.
I couldn’t believe the mess underneath, full of cigarette ash and stubbs. No wonder I can’t get rid of the smokey smell. Have it a good hoover and clean.
Tomorrow I’ll wrap the trim and screw it all back together ready for reinstall.

The car will be much fresher now, great job.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

Don't think Ive seen anything about what you've bought since you sold the lovely E86 and the basic 2.5 rag top you revived?

Modest upgrade, Scott. Definitely missing my coupe, but I’d rather have a car to work on than a garage queen just now.Scott Naylor wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 11:50 pmNice one Ben such a nice easy and a very viewable win!Zedebee wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 9:42 pm Removed callipers and carriers from the car, machined them back to metal and painted them black.
