Engine rebuild process now in the final and slowest stages consisting of multiple trips to BMW parts to get alu bolts, finding everything and getting it back in, good excuse over Christmas to slink off to the garage.

Beautiful! That silver will certainly let you see any oil leaks, nice work.

Always impressed by someone that can do a job like that.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

After getting quotes of between £200/£300 to supply and fit an offside front brake caliper and we will probably want to put new discs and pads this was quick fit, other local garages too busy and need the car dropped off for all day.
I bought a caliper for £48, brake fluid for £3.50 and maybe an hour and a half to change it myself, I bought a brake bleeder that connects to an inflated tyre but never used it as I had a tube from my old Gaggia coffee machine lying beside a jam jar and let gravity do its thing for 1/2 hr as the reservoir is right above the caliper. The caliper was unfit due to burst seal as I had checked the bolts and greased them with a wee bit silicon grease and didn't work
I will buy new discs and pads maybe 2 calipers from auto doc soon and refresh the front brakes

First "wash" in weeks. Rinse car, snow foam and leave for 5 minutes, rinse again and dry off. The benefit of ceramic coating.

Crashed it. Coming out of turn 12 at Zandvoort I started to accelerate out of the corner, lining up for an overtake when I went onto the wet. The moment that happened, the back snapped out and I slid onto the wet grass, at which point you’re a passenger. In the last moment on the tarmac I managed to slightly adjust my angle, preventing me from sliding into the metal barriers, instead ending up backwards square into the tyre barrier. The right corner just “kissed” the metal barrier, showing what damage I would have had on the entire right flank had I not corrected in that final moment.

Ultimately it’s just plastic and carbon, and nobody got hurt other than my ego :? New bumper arranged on the way home, diffuser is cracked and torn, scratches on the hatch and rear quarter panel, but nothing that won’t sand out.

Now where’s that 18-year old Macallen… :headbang:
