What have you done to your car today?

Post by SonnyA85 » Tue Aug 02, 2022 10:37 am

dropped the car off to get 224's put on the car with new tyres and hunter alignment.

even though the tyres fit (asked on here before hand) the garage says because they aren't the recommended size they might take extra time to put on therefore extra money. they only put the ones designed for the alloy on the rims apparently and this isn't the "right" size. so shall see what they say. they also said folk on forums talk a power of shite. so there you go. will see how long it takes them to do the job.

probably won't use this garage ever again. they did have 4 bentleys sitting waiting to get work done and a classic car about 50 years old. so it's a well renowned place that deals with upmarket cars.

Typical, any excuse to charge more money for basically the same job. Surely they are taking the pi$$.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

So the same profiles as ///M and only 10mm narrower front and rear. Wouldn't have thought that would cause much of a problem in fitting ? :?

I have 224s on my 2.2 e85 and they are front 225/40 and rear 245/40 Avons with Bilstein b4s and I have no rubbing but it looks like standard height ride. But the back wheels do stick out a little more than I like.

Had the run down from ijmuiden to Montabaur . Top down all the way and air con blasting full tilt in the 35° temperature.

It was a good clear run at a good pace - The car feels very planted at speed.
I didn’t go daft, just the odd run up to 120 but mostly 90 ish!

Fuel consumption suffered of course but I did.t buy for economy
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

I was surprised how it didn't break up like the valve cover gaskets do but it was flat out like a badger on a bypass Si

Just finished giving mine a good wash. Used a pressure washer attached to a hosepipe, then rinsed it down after the wash again with a hosepipe and even rinsed the drive down afterwards using the hosepipe on full blast.

Living up North has it’s advantages :poke:
