Sourced some parts for the Bluebus project. Not prewired for the mic, but the route to the boot is fairly easy. Decided to go for a complete oem look, with a mic behind the wheel.

What have you done to your car today?
Well, I have not done anything to the car yet, but this arrived in the post today ... can you guess what it is??
It's actually this, a folding auto dipping mirror!! I guess I can say it came well packed!!!
Other mirror on the way and switchpack with folding button already in my possession.
Once the heated seat retrofit is complete, looks like I will be retrofitting folding mirrors

Replaced the air intake pipe as the original had split and the last owners fix of gaffer tape wasn’t really working.
Bit of a faff getting the jubilee clips on at the engine side, but got there in the end.
Also took the opportunity to clean the MAF while I had all the pipe work apart

Installed new drivers side fog light. The old one got hit by a rock. This was probably the easiest thing I've replaced on the car since I've owned it!

What have you done to your car today?
MOT passed this morning with a few advisories for 3mm tread left on rear tyres and all brake pipes corroded. The second one I was not pleased about because I have heard it can be quite an expensive and faffy job to replace them. I have also heard replacing with nickel-copper lines is a possibility? Anyone have any advice for this?

Much easier to fit that pipe with the disa off. Have you checked that yet?Drunkpanda42 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 8:46 pm Replaced the air intake pipe as the original had split and the last owners fix of gaffer tape wasn’t really working.

I am giving serious thought to resetting the clock to GMT this weekend. I can’t say I won’t have the time, as I’ll be saving an hour!

Today I met Lee and a couple of the guys at the awesome ZedShed, collected my new bootlid and then spent far too long fighting 2 seized bolts to get it fitted

Dipped beam H7 Halogen headlight bulb replaced, bulb had blown, I did get a bulb out warning light up on the dash. With the wheel on full right lock managed to get at the wheel arch cover inspection cover and remove the rear headlight unit cover and change the bulb. Filiment was broken on the old bulb. Easier to do with the wheel off so more room is available as the rear cover is a bit of a fiddle to remove its quite a tight fit at its inner end.

Easier still to undo 2 bolts and the MAF clips to remove the air filter box and one bolt to lift up the washer reservoir for access to the rear of both headlights from the engine bay No faffing about under a mucky wheel arch or having to remove a wheelcolb wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 12:49 pm Dipped beam H7 Halogen headlight bulb replaced, bulb had blown, I did get a bulb out warning light up on the dash. What have you done to your car today?
As detailed elsewhere I've been trying to fix the heater in my latest project 4-pot. Finally got some warm air coming through so 'Christine' decided that was the ideal time to throw up an EML for me.
Sure enough, codes for the valvetronic servo motor.
Luckily I had a known good one in the garage, along with a brand new eccentric cam position sensor so I dived in and changed both those today.
Not sure if the sensor needed changing but I'm not going in there twice!
The old servo motor was definitely grating inside when I turned the worm gear.
Wasn't too impressed with the nicely matched set of coils, but again, I had spares so now at least it has four the same in there. Good old Autophix 5900 was able to reset the adaptations and I watched the servo motor go through it's range of movement checks ok, before then putting everything back together and firing it up.
Couldn't believe it! Still got an EML. Couldn't work it out, so went in for a cuppa and a think. Back outside and immediately noticed that it had a better chance of working if I actually plugged it in again. Doh! (I'd plugged it in to do the resets with the top cover off, so had to unplug it again to fit that and that's when I missed reconnecting it.)
When I got the car it also had an issue with the roof not working. The 'expert' mechanic couldn't work it out, but his final act had been to pull the red lever! Within 2 minutes I spotted that the boot micro-switch was broken. But replacing that made the motor run but no roof movement.
Buoyed by my earlier successes I dived in to relocate the roof motor. Was extremely pleased to find a brand new one in there. Someone had even gone to the trouble of drilling drain holes in the bottom of the casing. Turns out the brass plunger wasn't stuck in as I'd thought, but the lever that operates it was seized.
I now have a fully functioning engine and roof.
I call that a win and 'Christine' is starting to lean more towards rescue that spares donor.
