When I was comparing the advert to my records, I noticed that #261 & #291 were good matches - even down to the mileage. The advert said that there have been 5 owners, #261 has had 6 owners and #291 has had 5 owners - so I came down on the side of #291

That said, looking at the advert again, at the bottom of the expanded description it says that the car was registered on 7/10/2005 which matches#291, so it seems that I went the wrong way and you're right with #261

As an odd coincidence #261 and #291 both started life on a 'VX' prefix number plate so were originally registered in the Severn Valley area which happens to be Number 5's part of the country

The owners thing seems to be a ‘trick’ many dealers exploit. They note the number of former keepers on the V5 they get from the previous keeper so it looks lower owners: 5 former keepers is really 6 in total.

I messaged the dealer back in Oct-20 when this first appear for sale with them and he confirmed the registration.

Reg Plate: FN04 HVV
Exterior Colour: Sterling
Interior Colour: Black
Spec: Lux
Price: £15,000 (in Hard top)
Mileage: 66000 (only done 600 miles since 2018 MOT)
Location: Private Sale, Acton
URL of advert: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-detail ... sed&page=1
I'm sure it makes no odds to some but this car has been wearing one aero skirt and one standard skirt since 2010. I guess that could be regarded as a selling point these days given the price of them!

I’ve just managed to catch this one on the M4 south Wales. I wonder who is it is and what build number. In eight years its the first one I’ve just happened to see on the road

I have #305 recorded as being on FJ05 JUT, yet the above doesn't look like a personal plate.
Is that a previous plate, or is my database incorrect ?

FJ05 JUT is the original reg of #305, it was moved over to LW05 ALW in March 2008

As for it being a personal plate, anything can be a personal plate if it means something to the owner - e.g. it could be a husband and wife with initials LW and ALW

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself as I just registered for the board.

Just wondering if anyone is looking at selling? My budget to spend on a RS is circa 15k. I could also possibly do a trade with my 07 E86 3.0si Msport in Alpine White, fully loaded with split rims heated seats, xenons, piano black dash and black leather, folding mirrors. Let me know if anyone would like to discuss.
I am located in Northampton.
Thanks Phil

Hi and welcome to the forum Phil.

If/when you are ready to sell your E86 you'd get a better response if you posted a classified advert - it won't cost you anything. And Alpine White is a really rare colour on E86s!

Hi and thanks. Yes I'm aware of the rarity of mine, only 16 E86 3.0si's I believe were sold in the UK. I think the spec of mine is perfect too. I wouldn't dream of selling her unless it was a deal for an Alpina Roadster with someone. (I really want to scratch that itch). Hence the message etc. Just wanted to put it out there in case anyone was interested and we could talk prices etc. Bit of a long shot I guess! :?

I guess not knowing that is one of the drawbacks of being a newbie!

Thanks :D
