If that car’s straight and no/little issues what a cracking buy

Relisted Stuart, starting price £8k
Even for a nearly 100k car that doesn't look like a bad price to me depending on condition
Once you get past the pain of the things that will fail because they weren't the best design or materials then the core engine seems to be as good as, or better than any other BMW straight 6. Forged crank and rods, lots of cumulative knowledge transferred from the N52.tiglon wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 11:03 am The Montrose 35i is back up at 8k starting bid.
I'm curious to see what sort of mileage these N54 Z4s get to. There don't seem to be many N54 3 series with high mileage around, but I suspect a lot of Z4s might be looked after better.
If you assume that you've had to replace turbos and lots of gaskets by 100k, what's to stop it getting to 200k?
Even though I definitely don’t need one I’m keeping an eye on it, seems like an absolute bargain irrespective of where it is
That’s what I was thinking when I initially mentioned it. At that mileage it’s got to have most/all of the known issues addressed, particularly with FSH??B21 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 12:34 pmOnce you get past the pain of the things that will fail because they weren't the best design or materials then the core engine seems to be as good as, or better than any other BMW straight 6. Over the pond there are lots of folks seriously abusing N54 with 100k-200k mileages.
Given the inability of people to stretch them for more than a few seconds they are effectively over engineered in the hands off almost all folks.
So providing you keep changing the oils, the belts and the rogue plastics then once you are through the known issues they probably would go on forever.
You would expect that some of the 'issues' for sure would have been addressed..but..on the other hand..it probably means that some of the issues that haven't been addressed could then fail...but at that price a war chest is the best answer be that real or the ability to call on cash when needed..Argyll Andy wrote: ↑Thu Feb 24, 2022 12:40 pmThat’s what I was thinking when I initially mentioned it. Good spec, no wheel issues on MOT, sensible mileage. "Artic white" too so very rare
It has climate, so was either an option, or it's a 20i. It has been de-badged so could be
