Great road trip report Paul and enjoyed everybody's photo's.......you happily answered your own question from the opening post.....weather made it a trip to remember for the future.
We took a day trip from Thurso to Durness on Sat and it was very busy.......stopping constantly for "tourists" who didn't seem to understand how to drive considerately on a single track road.

Found this picture of the wee tunnel but in the opposite direction than you would have took.
That's the one! :D - what a smooth bit of tarmac that section was alongside the Loch

My brother in Law is now up for a 5 day driving break and wants to go to Scotland . . . . :o

Just booked at the Cluannie Inn Glenmoriston (15 mins from Fort William) for tomorrow night. :o
That's after 200 miles today on the Helmsley TT and the North Pennines. :o
We're going to Eilan Donan again :o and back the next day cramming in as many enjoyable roads as possible on the way up and down.
Lots of miles this month!

First day I've been on the forum since before we did this run.

I would like to thank
Paulgs1000 (Paul and Steph)
Cherrym (Mike and Shirley)
Alienzed (Maurice and Andrea)
Porthoz4 (Dave and Tricia)

For a fantastic 4days away well organised and 90% of the time I didn't even know where I was just followed the crowd....... And set a good pace on the can't get lost roads A Maurice haha hanging on at the back :poke:  the whole trip I had a smile on my face and never felt like 3's a crowd haha :D being the singleton haha had a good laugh even when in the car to myself with the witty banter from alienzed.

Big thanks for letting me tag along and for the hard work that went into this run from all that I went with.

Craig.

Enjoy the drive. You will know these roads as well as you know the North East soon!

Weather still fair and dry but just not the same temperatures so bring a jumper :)

I'll remember the jumper - it's out to be packed (maybe worn!)

Here's his Lotus - supercharged and stage 1 sports exhaust - very effective. :o OK when I'm leading but hard work in the Zed following him. Thankfully I knew the roads today and that gave me a slight and useful edge. Helmsley TT and then to North Pennines. 200 miles.

Pretty little thing isn't it. Makes the Zed look huge. Very low, very Spartan (even though this is the Grand Tourer version - it's got a radio and a cup holder!)

Going up and down a different route - Steph's taking us on a bit of a zig zag to introduce Tim to lots of driving experience. Heading for Eilan Donan and perhaps the bottom of Skye. Don't have time to head any higher but will be revisiting some of the driving highlights from our trip.

Hartside Wed afternoon and they want to do Northumberland Castles and Coasts including Holy Island on Thursday. . . . . :o

Well here we are back in Scotland! Called at the Jim Clark museum and Wallace memorial on the way up.

Visited the Commando memorial and Alfa Scorcessi came out to see us again - great stuff. Sent him a text to say we were driving through Fort William and he met us again! Top fella!
And he has the same pilottis as my brother in law.

Drove the fabulous Dunn road first talked about some years ago when driven on a forum hoons and just finished a brilliant hoons to the hotel on the wonderful A82.

We've had sunshine at Stirling but the overcast makes previously sunny and bright routes feel much more sinister and malevolent. Totally different feel - very forbidding in comparison with the bright and friendly feel in the sunshine!

Fantastic Trip, photos and stories to go with it - thanks for sharing it. Superb Pictures and you definitely chose the right week. That could very easily have been a wash out.

PS. I dont think I'll bother entering the Photo Comp for several months now.
