Well, surprise surprise,Brian d commenting on my posts....not for the first time.BrianD wrote:Your comments didn't come across well in all honesty Craig, and certainly didn't read as just a wee bit of banter. You really do need to take a chill pill as you tend to take things far too seriously in my opinion.craig3.2 wrote:Bing wrote:I have to say Craig, it didn't read as lighthearted to me - came across as a bit of a dig after the specific response already given... There's a big difference between actually organising runs and just attending them in terms of the time required to do the former, as you know.
Anyway, I want more pics as I've missed out on both NC500 runs and need to live my life vicariously through everyone else... I really need to get up to Scotland for a run this year
Bing,it was just a wee bit of banter, but take as you like.
Guess I should just stop posting on here, then I can't be accused of having a dig,
,or talking crap, when trying to give people genuine advice,re issues they are having with their m's.
the op needs to take a chill pill,if they can't take a bit of banter,in my opinion.

Great photos guys, you've inspired me to try and do this trip either in my summer or autumn holidays.
Hopefully you can give me some tips on planning the travel arrangements once you're home.

As there are a good number of members active on this post who either live north of the border or have a good knowledge of the area id like to ask what would be the chances of doing this route in January or February ?
The quiet roads appeal to me & planning a winter sabbatical so it would be a great chance to go up for a week instead of thrashing in 4/5 days

Looks awesome guys, hope this wonderful scottish country/mountain air helps you both to take your mind off things if even for a small time Paul. We had a great time on Saturday on the run which Craig kindly organised, grand job fella!
The misunderstanding is between Craig and Paul surely, not for a second do I believe that any harm was intended. IMHO it's not for anyone else to take sides in any case. After all, non face to face communication is not an ideal form of communicating as any trick cyclist will tell you - as evidenced by the invention of the emoji to try to help. Some like to use them, some don't.

I wouldn't like to use these roads in winter with a rear wheel drive motor Mr Wilks, I reckon this time of year is about right.

If this year was anything to go by it wouldnt be a problem.mr wilks wrote:As there are a good number of members active on this post who either live north of the border or have a good knowledge of the area id like to ask what would be the chances of doing this route in January or February ?

It would need to be a spur of the moment trip as Scottish weather is extremely difficult to predict.

I would agree with Geezer and Nictrix as although the last two winters have been mild and the roads on this trip are low level I had myself a moment earlier this year with exhuberent gritters laying loads of salt down turning what looks like dry grippy road into an arse clenching corner!
On the upside guarenteed no midges and the roads will be quieter although the best time is now. All of the best bits and none of the bad.
The number of camper vans look to be increasing this past week

Only have 1 free month until Dec & that's August , no way am i going then
I hear the cries for non winter but its not a go-er , might just sit tight on the plan & go on short notice as suggested but would be sometime late Jan early Feb

Schools in Scotland go back in the middle of August so it is a bit quieter up here midweek.
