Nice choice, I've got the auto with the valjoux 7750 movement which I've had a few years and keeps good time.

Image

Straton used to ship their watches from Switzerland and now for some reason they've started to ship them I think from Singapore so my last watch from them I was stung with 70 quid import duty which has put me off ordering again.

Hi Tim I did order the auto to start with as the 7750 movement is very robust and it’s easily serviced, but it can be a tad noisy. In the end I went for the Quartz just for the ease of grab and go. Have to admit I do like the look of the auto more so.

Hi Paul,

Yes I think I was a little betwixed at the time which to go for, I think I only went for the Auto as I placed the order when it was the original crowdfunding price. I'm not sure nd you see many Valjoux movements in a microbrand either. My only slight concern is the crown action is very gritty in feel although working OK.

New strap time for the Monaco, I dread changing straps on this watch, one slip of the spring bar tool is never far away 😱 so gone for a quick release milanese from WatchGecko, really nicely made strap and a breeze to fit. Let's hope it's not too eager to quick release 😬

For a bit of fun ordered this homage from AliExpress and quite impressed with the quality and finish considering what it cost. The seller sent me 2 in error so contacted them and they said don't worry about it.

It appears to have a mechaquartz movement as the chrono is mechanical with a flyback so not bad for what it cost.

Got around 30 or so Swatch Watches I started collecting in the late 80’s. Was a gateway drug into other timepieces. I don’t own anything hugely expensive, but I do buy the odd thing that catches my eye from time to time.

Alas not, but my brother queued and got one. Lovely looking things. My Swatch buying history stopped around the late 90’s although it kickstarted again last year with that Big Jelly seen in my pic.

About 4 weeks ago I offered three as a job lot locally but they’ve got quite a considerable mark up on them and one of them is a ladies watch. Between the mark up and knowing I’ll never wear them I’m hesitant to put 4 figures into 3 Swatch’s. As bizarre as it sounds if it was the full set I’d probably be more likely to get into them as the investment makes more sense then, Man Maths :tumbleweed:

You know you were a collector when you’ve a dedicated Swatch Storage Box

I love scrolling through this thread, and so should probably add my own contribution. My "collection" isn't reflective of how much I'm fascinated by watches (yet), but you have to start somewhere.....

2022 Frederique Constant Highlife Chronograph Ltd Edition with original leather strap (however I have added an FC deployment clasp in place of the pin buckle. It came with 3 straps - leather, rubber & bracelet - which was a nice touch, and increases it's usability) - picked up last week to mark a milestone in 2022.

I've used smart watches as my daily for about 10 years (3 pebbles, then moved to Samsung Galaxy line-up as they actually looked like a watch. Currently use a Galaxy Watch 4 Classic), but find I've become almost dependent on it. I leave my phone permanently on silent, and don't always feel/pay attention to the vibrations, so I rely on the watch. Without it, I tend to miss a lot of notifications, and so I often favour the Samsung over the watches above - this makes it all the more special when I wear them, but they deserve a bit more wrist time than they get.

I'm hoping to break that cycle this year, and wear them more often, and not just for the odd wedding or big event. Besides, there's always a fledgling startup promising to help give your classic watch some smart features in a subtle way, however none ever seem to go the distance. Maybe 2023 will be their year (and mine).

1973 Cardinal, cost approx $9.00 new from Shoppers Drug Mart, I think I was about 14 at the time.
Been sitting on the shelf maybe 25 yrs, I'm sure it would work if I could find a new battery.

Those are nice watches. Love the blue strap on the chronograph. I always wear 2 watches - the Garmin Fenix (for fitness tracking and notifications) and a rotation from my collection.
