hope so mate as I either lose deposit or stick with it and I reckon I’ll easy get a xenon car for this money but am I really travelling the length and breadth of the uk looking at cars...no, this one’s 70 miles away I do feel the seller is a decent fella I just think I’ve done my job wrong
If you only have a deposit on it maybe walk away, maybe the guy with the van found a potential issue with it as well.

Personally i thought the Xenon's were actually pretty good on the Z4 and its would be high up on my want list too.

There will be other cars for sale that's for sure.

. Appreciate that mate, i also thought xenon on my last coupe were good, I need good night lights on a car it’s simple as that...my gut feeling last night was to back off as the mot history is not great, service history is half great but possibly self serviced....condition of the car is very good and it sounds sweet from cold etc but gut feeling was walk away....today not sure, these are old bmw’s But good one’s don’t cost the earth to run but I don’t want a lemon either

I guess the question is, do you have that. “I’ve made a mistake…” knot in the stomach feeling? We’ve all been there.

How much of a deposit have you put down and can you walk away (rhetorical)

I had a pre-facelift E85 with an LED headLight kit and the lights were excellent, not sure how much going this route costs though.

Not too much to loose then in the grand scheme of things. Only you can really decide what's best I guess. They are reliable thigs but costs can add up these days of you buy one which needs a few things doing. Quite a few have been run on a shoestring unfortunately and are due fair big bits of work.

I had an se spec about 5 years ago same colour cost me a bit over £5k I ran it two years to over 150,000 miles only waterpump failure ....I couldn’t even negotiate for waterpump on this one and that will be next thing ...you can see it’s all adding up to me making a hasty move

Its a £8000 car then with a not great MOT History, which hasn't got the lights you want and may need other work as well. Has it had any suspension bits done? Has it had the brake pipes done? Has the Car had any Engine Gaskets changed? (Rocker, OFHG, OCG etc)

its basically it’s had advisories addressed, both rear shocks were leaking at the same time on one test, so they obviously got changed, it’s had a lot of advisories every year not what I’d call big advisories but it’s tyre, brakes, suspension etc ok I know they are big and I know it’s a lack of care or awareness.....I’m thinking the look of the car kind of got me plus the rush rush viewing but it looks mint

Only you can decide what feels right or not to be fair.

A lot of the value in these cars is in the condition. I suspect at that price it’s a 100k+ car, so if it looks mint then it’s probably been looked after. A few basic checks like are the wheels curbed, is the oil clean, does it drive well, will help to reassure you.

Looks pretty rough on the bodywork and lights which is a shame. Could be a nice project for someone though.
I see it's down to £7500 now, more tempting at that price and I do like the green...

That being said, it'll need money spent on the brakes and lower wishbones based off the MOT history and it's got runflats all round. Assuming you don't want run flats you're easily bursting the £1000 mark sorting all that. That's before you even get onto the listed cosmetic issues.

hi yes 129,000 miles...wheels are virtually unmarked, it’s just been serviced including plugs, oil, and a k&n, new bottom arm despite only an advisory on mot but he changed it out, new discs and pads front and rear, was a cover gasket changed can’t remember which, inside and out the car is really tidy matching uniroyal tyres, heated leather, cup holders like new, new badges as they were flaking, non sat nav, sounded very smooth from totally cold it took 10 mins for the seller to find the key ....no evidence of waterpump change, part history to 74,000 then some reciepts for service items so presume self serviced? Some mot fails on tyre, suspension, brakes, last August I presume two new rear shocks as both failed for leaking.....the car looks fantastic and sounds very good the seller is a decent bloke from what I can gather but only owned the car 3 months or so .....I’m seeing some paperwork today as we were both rushed the other day, car did get a deposit on it last week but they backed out due to a work van issue taking presitence ....who knows but I do like it

Yep it could add up to be a nearly £10k car quite easily once it all starts adding up. At least it’s a slightly different colour to the norm though.
