The forged are actually slightly heavier than the flow formed, but their load rating is considerably higher.
I have managed to bend quite a few of the flow formed now (one of my sets have some interesting wheel weight positioning on some of the wheels!).

18x8.5" ET45 according to them is 18.2lbs for flow formed and 18.35 for the forged.
How on earth have you managed to bend the flow formed ones Tom?!

They do look lovely Byron :) Let me know once you guys have got something booked, I'm definitely planning on getting up to Donny at least once this year, it'd be fun to get out together! I'm currently waiting on my Intrax to be delivered so I can get it on the car along with new rear discs and pads, new front pads, and then a proper corner weighting - then I'm set for some trackdays too, time (and little one) permitting!
thanks buddy, really excited to get them in the car!! the stock seats looks so nice, but the support is really missing, and the weight loss will be very welcome, i believe these will see the car dip under 1400KG, slightly nervous about the install as it looks VERY fiddly to get right.

APEX will replace damaged wheels for the orginal owner / or at least offer a significant discount.

I don't think it's that unusual? Otherwise why make a wheel that costs 1.5x that weighs the same. Unless it was within the range of 1.5x it being stronger and people having issues with the flow formed there would be no business case would there given they look almost identical?
I kind of view mine as a consumable to some extent along with studs etc. Once I settle on a definitive size for the car I'll probably go forged.
One was badly damaged in a 'relatively' small off, the rest have just buckled most likely from a combination of hitting curbs hard on track, very stiff sidewall tyres, stiff springs and sh***y roads used to get to the tracks. My sidewalls are fairly meaty 235/40 r18, 265/35 r18.

Just found this thread again after another bout of suspension musings and pondering the arc upgrade.

How are you getting on with the suspension Mikey? Did you notice any change going from the 224s to the arc8 (or Csl) in terms of compliance or reduction in weight?

Hey Beanie - thanks for the bump on the thread!!

I'm still learning a lot with the Intrax, but it's all positive so far. It sounds obvious, but going from a 10 click system to a 50 click system means you can play about a lot more with the damping. It's not just a case of cranking up the dampers and it all works out - quite a bit of fine tuning to be done that makes big differences.

I did a trackday at Donington (dry, around 18 degrees) recently and when I turned up I mistakenly went out for my first stint on 'comfort' settings - that felt as good as full hard on the Bilsteins - ARC is amazing - allows a much softer set up without the pitch and roll issues.

On the road, the damping has much more 'depth' if that makes sense? Ride is still firm, even on comfort setting, but not as crashy as the Bilsteins. Like most performance spring and damper set ups, they need a few miles to get some heat into the damper fluid.

Ride quality on the CSLs is very good, much better than the 224s honestly so controversially, I'd say going to 19" wheels has been a positive thing! :fuelfire:

Cheers Mikey and good to hear they’re working out for you.

Arc definitely sounds like having your cake and eating it, do you happen to know if it can be added on/upgraded to, as and when the shocks get rebuilt?

I specified ARC as part of the original specification - no idea if it can be specified retrospectively. Honestly, I’d just get it anyway - it makes a HUGE difference to the the car’s performance in roll and pitch.

I’m sold on it, it’s just the ‘in family justification’ that’s a harder sell!

So I treated myself to an Evo Trackday. Fab day out, not many cars at all and some lovely cars there too!

One of the perks of the day is free pics, so a few shots of my old heap.... :D

Always get tempted by Porsches on these days, then they send through some nice pics when you're thinking of selling!!

Shhhhh Beanie - you'll upset the purists! :poke: In fairness I love both the CSL wheels and the Apex ARCs - always loved the way 19s fill the arches on a Z...

Thanks Beedub...! 8) Not too shabby in fairness - a big variation in speeds there on the day - a couple of race cars there that make you realise how compromised a road car is on track, but had lots of fun all the same and gave M Track mode a bit of workout in the wet...
