NLW73 wrote: Thu Oct 06, 2022 8:08 am I have been hearing & reading some interesting things about Collecting cars plus the business model

the arse has fallen out of the market and people are still expecting big dollars for ok condition cars and mileage.

they have been selling cars regardless of the reserve it would appear and telling the sellers to take it or face further issues thus breaking the contract/SLA. looking at old car values and auctions is irrelevant now and the model is starting to wobble a bit.

maybe why they are getting into watches but then they will suffer as a luxury item and folks start trimming back as the heating goes on, mortgage rates go up and money is not as cheap as it used to be across the board.

I am not sure its a mini crash tom more a reversion to actual value and worth. during lockdown and after cars were at a short supply and people had a fair chunk of change lying around and went out buying. very different economic position now and going into 23 & 24.
Collecting Cars are selling a lot of cars, there is still a strong demand for good cars with realistic sellers prepared to meet the market in Q3 2022. And buyers ready to bid to own. We don't see the "wobble" you talk about at all.
The move into watches was driven by inquiry, there is even a watch section on this platform, and some US platforms discuss wines and food and music as well. For the more erudite perhaps
And in the US the BAT platform is performing strongly too, mind you the economy there is more robust than that of the UK just now.

That is the one - interesting it didn't sell although with the current market I imagined the reserve would be around £20k

My thoughts exactly.

From my observations Z4m car values are slowly reducing although I’ve noticed a couple on AT increasing slightly in value recently.

I would suggest this is more indicative of the current market rather than a reflection on Z4M’s.
Personally I’m interested in the prices and sale rates at the upcoming Silverstone auction at the NEC classic car show in a months time. Although there is always some A grade and blue chip classics at the auction there’s often interesting new gen classics which I see the Z4m as incl the likes of the M3 e46 and with a decent mix of traders and jo-public bidding for the lots so I’ll be interested to see the results.

IMO I do agree with the previous point that the current price softening is more of a price correction to an overheated market rather than a significant concern. Likewise on the flip side once consumer confidence starts to return new gen classic cars tend to see strong gains. As always time will tell….meanwhile it’s a sunny day so time to get the ZMC out for a blast 👍

Winters coming

Always see a softening in Autumn IMO

Suggest end February 2023 is the true barometer

That time is typically when more people start the hussle

MOT history suggests it may need a new steering rack and brake pipes and soon to come up for a test.

You mean the roll bars behind the seats, I like them, just like the AC Schnitzer Z4, better than plastic covers IMO.

I don't own a roadster but wondering if those roll bars are actually functional? For safety or looks?

Having witnessed a Z4MR rolled at speed, I can confirm the OEM hoops are 100% functional (and the windscreen frame is designed to withstand rollover).

Is it me or are those hoops not quite symmetrical?

The car advertised has been up for sale by the same owner some 12 months ago and did not sell then ?

Interestingly it’s just appeared on AutoTrader for £23,500.
