It's not about mounting the X3 monitor but rather the dashboard bin with portable BMW (Garmin) satnav. So if I understand correctly, the dimensions are more or less the same? How is the viewing angle different? Do you mean it would face more upwards because the X3 dash has a sharper angle? (am I making any sens here...?)srhutch wrote:The X3 monitor is slightly different and I would avoid as it looks wrong and the viewing angles are also slightly different.Bad_Pritt wrote:And yet another question
Does anyone have the dimensions (incl depth in the dash) of the standard satnav flip up/down monitor? Are the dimensions of this monitor the same as the dimensions of the X3-monitor? I have read on a few posts here that the parts look alike and that some have even received X3 parts in error when installing the standard satnav. So if the dimensions are the same... the X3 dash bin should fit the E85... hence the portable BMW Garmin system should fit the E85...?
If you know electronics then yes you could get the motor to operate using the switches on the side independently of the vehicle.

Re: Sat Nav Retrofit Fitting Details
I too would like to get the plastic assembly and wiring, but not too fussed with the screen inside - Does anyone know if you can get the part without the display in it.
Can anyone confirm the full screen size (width and height) in mm as I will be looking to make my own android incar system.
Can anyone help in sourcing this part? What sort of price is it and where is the best place to get it from?

Radio has dedicated power. The screen gets it's power via the loom that connects to the rear of the car. Bluetooth is a different module again in the boot.

Have you checked the fuses? you may have blown one if you didn't disconnect the battery putting the loom in.
I'm assuming it was working before with the old HU, and seeing as neither work it would be my first port of call.

The one for the radio
It should either be in the manual or on the card with the fuses IIRC.

Re: Sat Nav Retrofit Fitting Details
Hi all
Sorry to hijack a thread but I couldnt work out how to post!
So I have a 2003 3.0i Z4 with the 10 speaker Carver System (i.e. subs behind the seats and DSP settings) with a CD Changer. Basically someone has offered me a Business Sat Nav (the one that doesnt have the flip up screen) which I know isnt the best but hopefully could be a little no hassle upgrade anyway...So I was just wondered what I need besides the head unit to make this work? Also, does the Business Sat Nav have the DSP settings?!
Thanks everyone/anyone who can help!
