Wanted z4coupe

Post by Rally man » Tue Dec 24, 2013 9:20 pm

Wanted for my new rally car project :driving:
Must be
3ltr
coupe or hard top
manual box
What model has a LSD ??
Interior does not matter as it will all be striped out when giving the car a diet :D
Mileage not important
I would consider damaged repairable or a repaired car?

What have you got boys?

LSD was only available on M models of the Z4. What's your budget?

Edit: a rally Z4M sounds very exciting

Obviously trying to get a car as cheep as possible as the build will be costly?
it will be striped seam welded,
fully strengthened
lightened with fiberglass wings boot and bonnet
,roll-cage fitted,
New wiring loom
up rated suspension trying to increase the suspension travel as most Tarmac rallies can be very rough in parts.
Sump guard etc etc
Sequential box :)
Initially a standard engine but eventually looking for more bhp

The list is endless :headbang:

Is there another BMW diff with a LSD that will fit or do I have to go down the quaife route?
What diff ratios are there on each model and auto?

Budget for the car is under 20k. finished

I will post my progress

You could try scouring breakers for a written off Z4M - might be able to get the diff from that. Otherwise an M3 from the same era - it has the same engine, not sure if the diff is the same ?

Good luck

Yes but he says coupe or hardtop presumably the roll cage can still be fitted on roadster and then hardtop fitted ?
That's how I read his post

Sounds an interesting project. Can't really imagine a less likely base for a rally car tbh.

The term "cheap as possible" and Z4 coupe generally don't go together.
