Here we go again, 296 cracked

Post by EdP » Mon Oct 15, 2012 5:08 pm

What can I say, the same story like everyone else with a cracked 296 rim.
When I saw the tire warning light this morning, it was clear for me. The picture tells the rest.
Tomorrow I will visit the dealer, I'm curious how BMW Netherlands handles these wheel issues.

Is there impact damage on the first picture? Just that they will use any excuse to blame a pot hole or so.

Not good :( If BMW sees the kerbing on the inside they may blame it in on impact damage :? i.e. your fault Sir. Hope not and they replace the affected wheels.

It's scratched, 1,5 years ago. I hope this is not a point of discussion.

Today. I dropped the car at the the dealer.

They made pictures of the crack. It depends now on BMW. Let's hope they are reasonable.

I was lucky today, they have a new E89 with 296 in the showroom, guess what, it has the new version of the 296 on it! That makes life easy.

How is that lucky for you? Lost in translation maybe!!

Hope you get a good result. Did you have all the other wheels checked too?

Indeed, lucky is a bit exaggerated. Just showing the picture of the new rim was not convincing for them.
