Weight loss tips?
Hey fellow Zeders,
Anyone on here have any good tips for losing weight? Anyone lost a substantial amount?
I'm due to finish my PhD in a couple of months but over the past three years doing the course my weight has slowly crept up I'd love to lose about two stone!
Thanks,
C

Re: Weight loss tips?
local boot camp, or just stop eating for a while, but most is fluid intake.

Re: Weight loss tips?
usually cutting refined sugar out will reduce weight - it's too easily accessible as an energy source for a sedentary person, and often eaten excessively. so anything sweet and refined carbs (white bread etc)
the other thing is portion sizes, most people eat way too much at a sitting without realising, as it's progressive over the years.
good luck.!

Diet, reduce carbs (pasta, bread, alcohol etc) and regular exercise (1 hour of rigorous exercise a day)

Re: Weight loss tips?
Simple as sensible eating and exercise. I know easier said than done...
My wife was in a similar situation and told me she was going to join weightwatchers. I was VERY sceptical (being a scientist with a PhD myself - makes you a real cynic) but all they do is help you to control your calorie intake using points and give you bonus points for exercise. Was amazed when she lost over two stone in 4 months, staring at 11 and a half stone. Her BMI is now within normal range for being 5'1".
If you do go down that route DO NOT cheat and RELIGOUSLY record your points. wife told me that most seemed to bounce up and down in weight but it was obvious that they were not following the system.
Also if you like a glass or two of wine then give that up, huge amount of calories are taken in via alcohol.
Good luck !

Easiest way with quick loss, but it's up to you afterwards....Lighter Life. Not advertising it. If you do what it says, first two weeks, you'll lose a stone....it's not cheap though...about £60 a week...

Re: Weight loss tips?
Thanks everyone! My BMI is 24.5, the very edge of 'normal'. I think cutting out alcohol and sugars / carbs would make a big difference.

Weight loss tips?
I'm doing Weightwatchers at the moment. Lost 2 stone since Easter. Also increased my physical activity. I've done Weight watchers before and knew it worked for me, and if you're too lazy to work out the pouts in foods then weightwatchers make ready meals.
Like someone else has said, it's a low fat, low calorie diet. Simples!

Re: Weight loss tips?
I lost 13kg (from 80kg to 67kg) in 10 months years ago, by going to the gym twice a week. I burned nearly 2,000 calories on treadmill, cross-trainer, bikes, rowing, weight lifting, etc, over 2 hours.
Also, I eat much less meat, pasta, chips and rice, but more veggie and fish/seafood.
