1. sDrive28i 8-speed steptronic
2. 2015
3. Alpine White
4. Coral Red Kansas

5. Roof failure to retract at 17,000 miles in..
Required new wiring harness sent from Germany and 39 hours labor..sat 3 weeks at my dealership, fully covered under warranty

6. AC Condenser leak at 22,000 miles.. deemed act of god and not covered under warranty. Replacement condenser found on ebay for $120USD and paid 2 hours labor at 3rd party mechanic to replace. Dealership wanted $500 for condenser and 3 hours labor

7. Oil leak and leak near the turbo at 49,995 miles.. two hoses replaced fully covered under warranty

8. 50,505 miles possible blown differential.. going into 3rd gear from a traffic light the car felt like it had a tire blow out, pulled over to park and check.. tires fine.. engine would not restart and transmission would not shift out of park.. towed to dealership tonight, awaiting to hear from service advisor tomorrow for their findings. Convenient this would happen 500 miles past the end of my 4 year 50k mile warranty and just 3 days after they last had it serviced overnight.

This is were you find out how good your dealership is. Hopefully they should cover that as a good will gesture under the warranty, if not, contact BMW head office in USA. Good luck and keep us updated.

Turns out the motor blew and needs to be replaced.. they drained the oil and it looked like metallic brown paint because it had an abundance of metal flakes in it. They assume it might be related to timing belt issues they've experienced with this model, but I believe when they replaced a hose the previous week for an oil leak, they may have not done it very well or topped off the oil. They couldn't manually start the motor with a ratchet as the bolt was just stuck. The OBD fault list showed SuperKnocks in cylinders 2, 3, and 4 and about 15 other codes.. Engine replacement is estimated at $15,000.. my advisor said he is "trying to get it goodwilled" but we shall see whether or not that happens. He said he will let me know in a few days.

Phew :| close call to a hefty bill there
Of all the 89s I wonder about the 2.8s longterm whether they can stand the hammering of what is the 2.0 petrol engine with a tuned to the max turbo charger .
In your sig i notice yours is also electronically tweaked :? could that not effect warranty ?

Thought that myself Andy. Don't think I would put that upgrade on my signature. Remaps will void your warranty :(

Dinan upgrades do not effect your BMW new car warranty when installed through a bmw service dept, and Dinan provides a warranty on top.

Piston 3 would have just broken into hundreds of pieces. The rest of the engine wasn't keen, so it ate it.
