Have people removed the part circled as well as the moving latch part from the roof? Does the red light on the roof button not flash thinking the roof hasn't fully opened?

My stowed convertible top squeaked really chirped.
1 year ago spent $375 to wrap in foam and was a waste.
Today spent another $600 to replace latch. See photos where the top latch was being rubbed. Metal exposed and slightly gouged. Assume and hope it will resolve issue

I have a2016 z4 hardtop convertible. When the top is not stowed, the squeaking is excruciating over bumps. Does anyone have any fix for this? thus far, bmw service is clueless. Thanks!

Thanks Rob, I am new to the forums and new to BMW. What a great ride! There are many models/years. I do have a thread running in another forum with responses and suggestions but have yet to find another Z4 2016 hardtop owner with a similar concern and/or solution. BMW has not yet been helpful other than quoting an hour labor rate to investigate. Thanks again for your response.
