My friend has owned this “BMW” for forty years, rotting away in a lock up somewhere. I often speak to him about it, but I’ve never seen it in the flesh. Today he turns up with it outside my gate fully restored. Wow, just wow!

That looks fantastic Ben.

It reminds me a bit of the BMW I saw in the Museum at Gaydon last month!

Stupid cars but I get the appeal now. Age does funny things to us, doesn't it? :D

These were a really popular cheap means of transport in the 1960s along with Heinkles, Meschersmitts, Bonds, Berkeley’s and Goggomobiles. ( Not sure of some of the spellings)
You could drive one with a motorbike licence.
Great restoration, looks brilliant.

Literally nut and bolt retro, full respray, the works. It probably does 25mph tops. You can still drive one on a motorbike license 8)

They seem strange to us now but they were literally all the German car industry was capable of making in the 1950s, everything was destroyed in WW2, they did still have the engineering skills. It took nearly 20 yrs to get the manufacturing up and running again with new machinery. The UK car industry soldiered on with old machinery, worn out with war production and were very quickly outclassed
